If the ice room is not getting/staying cold enough, the unit will not harvest the ice and proceed through the cycle... First step in troubleshooting is to determine if the compartment the icemaker sits in is cold enough, if it is, then you have to test the ice room temp. sensor to see if it is not sending the correct temp signal to the main board. These icemakers are modular and pretty much have to be replaced completely if the temperatures and sensor check OK. Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor DA32 10104N
Sediment has built up on the water valve. Or someone put something in the icemaker to cool quickly such as soda or beer and when the ice mechanism cycled something got bent causing a leak.
That's the icemaker cycling.Ifya don't have water connected,it's still think'n its filling trays and dumping frozen cubes and all that stuff.Turn off the icemaker.Rigger said that.C-YAAaaaaaaaaaaaa
It sounds like you might have a bad fill valve. There are several reasons that an ice-maker doesn't get water. If the freezer isn't cold enough, the ice-maker thermostat will not allow it cycle. There are two different styles of ice-makers. Pull the white cover off of the ice-maker, if you see two gears the you have one of the earlier models. Turn the smaller of the two gears counterclockwise slowly until the gears start to turn by themselves. Now if you do not have the two gears under the cover, then you have a modularice-maker. There are several holes in the brown plate. Each hole will have a letter beside it. Jumper between the T and H holes until the ice-maker starts to turn by itself ( you should hear a click if you'll listen closely). Now that you ave cycled the ice-maker, check and see if there is water in the ice tray. If you still have no water then change your fill valve. If you do have water then its usually cheaper to replace the actual ice-maker. Be sure to check the temp of the freezer, most ice-makers will not cycle above 10F degrees. Most ice-makers are around $130. Most valves are around $50. I hope this helps you solve the NO ICE situation.
Hollow cubes are caused by not having enough water in the ice mold. Fill it up manually by pouring water in it and see how the cubes turn out. look for an adjustment behind the plastic
endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water. + is more water.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then
try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell
you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
There is a screen filter before the water inlet valve in the water line. It can get partially stopped up with sediment blocking water flow.
usually yes if no water to icemaker could be water valve solenoid. . first you can remove cover on icemaker and put the unit thru a test mode. find the plastic or medal cam in center of icemaker head when cover is removed., theis is a flateblade screw center get a small screwdriver and turn screw counterclockwise for about a 1/4 of a turn , icemaker will start cycling if icemaker ok then it will go througha cycle let it do its thing usually a few minutes for it to cycle, if fills you may have a bad icemaker, if no fill then valve may be bad. make sure you have good water pressure from your water supply that can cause icemaker problems.
Normally, when the temp of the icemaker gets to about 14 degrees F, the icemaker goes into the harvest mode, turning on the mold heater and attempting to eject the cubes. When the heater has warmed the mold sufficiently to release the cubes, the ejector can continue and push out the cubes, then the icemaker fills with fresh water to beging to make a batch of ice again. Manually starting the cycle as you have done only allows the cycle to start without the temp sensor seeing the 14 degrees. The mold heating generally takes a couple minutes. If your mold heater or the temp sensor are not working, you will have to replace the icemaker, as they are not available as a repair parts.
