Sounds like that may be the case. You can buy one of those cd cleaning discs and try using that. or if you want to spend the time dis-assembling the recorder and use some rubbing alchohol and a q-tip to clean the laser lens. Otherwise not worth the cost to repair.

Make sure the disc you using are labeled "Consumer Audio". These units will not work with standard audio CDR. I have one of these and only use it for playback now because the "Consumer Audio" disc usually cost more and are sometimes hard to find. These were cool when they 1st came out but today I find it easier and cheaper to use my computer to make my audio disc.

Technika combi unit dvd player wont read discs anymore

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Regards.

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

Was this player playing previously? And how long have you been using this player? I suspect the lens of the player. Once the lens of the player becomes weak, it won't play discs any longer.

The first thing my mind goes to, is the lens. The lens id responsible for reading/loading data on discs. So if the lens is unable to read the disc, there is no way the player is going to play the disc.

My pioneer car stereo DEH-P77MP won't play cd's anymore. the radio still works, but on the screen it says cd error AO or A0. i was wondering what problem this code relates to? hope you can help,...

This is a common error with these units when they get dusty from putting dirty disks inside the drive. Just go to your local staples and or walmart and get a 5 dollar disk player cleaning kit. It looks like a plain cd but has small fibers that come out of the bottom of the disc that clean the laser as it spins and tries to read it.

When I place my cd in it is showing no disc. My e-mail is [email protected]

Sounds to me like the lens is dirty. There are only a couple things that will cause this. First make sure the CD you are using is not a home burnt one. Some CD's get burned with a format that the CD player will not accept. Next thing you want to do is make sure the CD you are using is not scratched real bad. The laser cannot read read scratched CD's. You can get disks of all natures resurfaced for a couple dollars from your neighborhood video or gamers store. Next thing you want to do is gently clean the CD slide real well with a dry cloth and then get a CD cleaning disk and run it in your CD player two complete times. A dirty lens will not read a CD and a real dirty lens may need more than one cleaning. Sometimes the lens comes out of alignment and will not read anything anymore. Just a mm out of alignment can cause the lens to fail to read. This has to be addressed by a tech, should this be the issue.

Not reading blank cdr audio disks to record onto..

Will it read audio cd's? Sounds like you need a new laser unless you have access to a philips COMPair system to diagnose / realign it.
