I have tried 2 LG CU500s to work with Cellular One. They were both advertised as "unlocked". When I put the SIM card in the new one from my Motorola RAZR, it just displayed "Network unavailable" when trying to make a call. The same thing happened with the 2nd one I tried (a used phone) except that it rendered the SIM card useless. It won't even work in my RAZR now. The RAZR displays no signal strength bars and "Call failed" when I try to make a call. Is it possible these phones still have a lock even though neither of them complained about my SIM card? Thanks. jekes
The LG CU500 is a 3G phone I think. You may need to change your SIM CARD to 3G. I had a razor and my Sim didn't work with the LG CU320 I bought. Also unlocking a LG phone is a little more troublesome that other phones. I found a solution on the web. sorry I don't remember the website address, but it comes up in any google search. Hope this helps.

when the lg cu500 says "enter nck remaining: 5" means u need to enter an 8 digit number to unlock the phone. the 5 is the remaining 5 chances u get. once u use all 5 chances and keep entering the wrong code carelessly... u will then be prompted to enter a puk number which is only provided by cingular/at&t (as ive heard).
i have my old lg cu500 i am trying to find an unlock code without having to pay for one. a friend of mine needs a decent phone that works and mine is just laying around not being used. i switched carriers and cant use a gsm phone. im now on a cdma network. she doesnt have the money for another phone so this is why im trying to unlock my old phone to give to her.
If you have de code, try this:
Enter non-Cingular SIM card, power phone off and than on.It will say on the screen "invalid smartcard" enter 159753#*# It will bring next screen-enter your unlock code and press OK.
