I have a locked iPhone. Over EDGE network I can connect to Youtube and load movies just fine. As soon as I connect to my home network via wifi, nothing. I continue to get "Error playing movie" error box. My home network is an access point and a firewall running native IPS, Gateway AV and content filtering. Thus, I am nearly certain the firewall is shutting the traffic down somehow. I've set the youtube site as approved in the content filtering and allowed traffic from youtube thru the IPS. Still nothing. A search thru the FW mfg site yields no clues as to what the issue might be. Any thoughts?
Have a similar problem though not iphone related.
Its a router issue. Have two wifi router with tow different ISP's. One allows to view youtube video while the other does not. If you find the sollution, please post it here
First thing i would double check is to make sure the Iphone is being allowed on the network at all at home.
Some routers you have to go into the setup and manually allow a new device to access the network.
This is done with your MAC address on the Iphone, to find the MAC of your phone go to your home page, touch settings, then general, then about. Your MAC address is called your Wi-Fi address.
Every router is a little different but usually there is a Mac Filtering section under most routers. Add this address into the Filtering section and allow it to the network.
Hope this helps and enjoy your Iphone, I know I do ;)
