Multi Region I didn't realise this wasn't multi region when I purchased it. Was more interested in it having DIVX function. Not much good for my region 2 dvd's that were purchased whilst i lived in London. Any help would be fantastic! Lisa

Power ON with NO disc inside:
Press PAUSE on the remote-control
Press 3,1,4,1,5,9 in sequence using the remote-control
Press 0 on the remote to select Region Free
Press PAUSE again to save
Power OFF then Power ON.
Done.

Check the DVD player specs for this quote "Free Upgrade - Plays Region 1-6 DVDs". Then it will do what you want.

You need to unlock the DVD for multi-region options with a code you punch trough the remote, just remember that some DVD fabricants can VOID the waranty of the unit is unlocked for multi-region option...

I can't let a fellow Aussie pass so some good news and some bad. The BluRay player is region b but the dvd part of the unit is multi region. So YES it will work as long as it's not BlueRay. Whether or not a fix will be available at a later date to change the BlueRay to multi region is something you may have to wait for. It sure would make a top unit even better. I certainly wouldn't refuse one.

Sorry, it's not possible. The DVP-FX810 is one of many Sony players where the region coding cannot be hacked without making internal hardware changes. To do so is not cost effective when you can buy perfectly good multi region (or at least hackable players) brand new for £30 including a few Sony models which can be hacked (e.g the excellent DVP5980 with progressive scan, USB input, DivX and HDMI upscaling, still widely available at clearance outlets for under £30).

If you want hackable players avoid Sony and Panasonic unless you have found a model specific hack prior to purchase as many of them have the same limitation.

Have also just purchased a Philips HTS8140 with Philips LCD screen.
Found a result on web as follows:
1.Turn on TV
2.Turn on Sound Bar System.
3.Press eject.
4.Press 9 9 9 0 (0 being Region Free or place the desired region #)
(a message displaying "region 0",or the region you chose, will appear on the screen.)
5.Switch soundbar off to soundby.
6.Turn player back on and it should be either region free or the region you selected.

So far I have not been able to check with anyother disc exept region 4.

it depends on whether the drive is multi-region ?
Some drives are region Set, i.e Region 1 ( NTSC-USA )
Region 2 ( UK PAL )
Most Players Are Region Set, To the country they are purchased in, you can sometimes set the player to become, multi-region, via various buttons on the remote or by the front panel.
I offer a service to unlock 99% of DVD Players, to play all or many regions.
