Images Display 4 Times on Screen - replaced LCD, inverter, & video cable...

I've changed out the LCD, inverter, and video cable on my Vaio PCG-K25 notebook but still see images 4 times on my screen - this includes BIOS, Windows XP SP2, & UBCD4Win live environments. See the image I've uploaded here but please disregard the blurriness, as that is my poor photography skills combined with an unsteady hand: http://picasaweb.google.com/DarrellDW/LCDProblem/photo#5118331511461660594. The 4 images I see on my screen are perfectly clear miniature versions of what I should be seeing. Has anyone else encountered anything like this? Any thoughts?

Thanks for mentioning the external monitor. My Picasa picture description includes the fact that I can hook up an external monitor with no problems, but I forgot to mention that here. Image looks fine on an external monitor, which is why I replaced LCD, inverter, and video cable (in that order & not at the same time). Any other thoughts?

Can you plug your computer to a regular monitor there is a video conector in the back of your computer so if the video is ok on the external monitor that means LCD inverter may not be the right one that you just did the replacement

  • Jose Ramirez Dec 29, 2007

yeah you have open the computer and check all the video conectors and contacts that is due to a cross links from the video chip to the LCD conector so you may have to use a electronic spary cleaner to clean dust and probably some like water residuals or any little loose object on the inside computer

The display only about 5"

Hi there,

Try changing the screen resolution your display screen might be having trouble supporting the resolution you are currently using. If this does not work try updating the video driver for your computer.

To change the screen resolution:

Win XP:

Right click on the desktop -> Choose PROPERTIES -> Click the SETTINGS tab and change the resolution click apply and then ok

Win Vista:

Right click Desktop -> Choose Personalize -> Change the screen resolution click apply and ok

Win 7:

Right click the Desktop -> Choose Screen Resolution -> change it and click apply and ok

If the above steps does not work try going to the sony vaio support site and download the updated driver for your Video Display.

Hope this helps!

I have a Sony VAIO PCG-K25 Notebook Problem. When I Push the Power on Button, A flickering white screen comes up. The system goes throught boot up just fine but the LCD screen remains white. When hooked...

Hello
These symptoms are not the inverter problem, What can you do if the laptop LCD screen turned completely white? From my experience I can tell that this problem may be related to the following: 1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen. 2. Defective LCD screen. 3. Defective motherboard (I assume the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).
Check these by yourself or get assistance from sony support.
Good Luck

When i turn on my sony vaio pcg-k25 it will go to the start it will say the logo then goes to a baclk screen with a dash then goes comptele balck?

I think i know the problem - your pc is trying to display on an external monitor but im guessing you dont have one. If this is the problem simply press Fn and F5 at the same time on your keyoard. Sometime you may have to press it multiple times.

Thanks

My screen died on my Sony PCG-K25, but It works fine if I plug in a monitor

either your inverter went bad or your backlight did use a light and shine it down the screen at an angle if you can see anything then it's the ccfl(s) if it's totally black then it's probably the inverter which is better because it's easier to replace and costs about $15-$20 the ccfls go for around $15 but there are usually 2 and you have to dismantle the lcd and solder them to wires to replace them

Hello, please when i put no my sony vaio notebook, the colors are mixed on my screen, i have changed the screen and the screen cable but the problem is still there

Try taking out one ram stick at a time in between boots. It sounds like you make a bad stick of ram and that is causing video issues. Just a thought.

My sony vaio vgn-n365e screen is Dim

The fault could be a faulty CCFL lamp or inverter.
To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
