Buy some new fuel line then put the line in from the motor side into the tank and feed up and through the opening on the tank. Then you can put on a new filter with a tiny clamp then put it back into the tank making sure the filter is resting on the bottom.
I do alot of brake lines and I never remove the fuel tank. Its cheaper and easier to get a roll of brake line and rent a double flairing tool from a parts store and reuse the ends off your old brake line. Run the line out under your truck, cut it to length, put the end on up by the master cylinder first and get the good zip ties and tie it up along the other lines or whatever you can tie it to. Make sure nothing will hit it when the suspension moves. I usally leave the old line there. Then cut the rear end of the line to the exact length and put it on. Remember to put the fittings on before you flair the line.
ok look on back and take your main phone line and install where it says line in. Take the next spot and put your land line phone cord and install it in line out. If you have dsl for internet get a "t or y" and put on line out. always make sure the fax has the first line in.
Okay, prepare to get some gas on you. You need to drain the gas
You'll need:
1 pair hemostats or hose pincher
1 pair of wire cutters
1 screwdriver phillips or flat head
1 nut driver 1/4 inch or 5/16 inch
New fuel line. (cut 1 two inch piece and put the bolt in one end making a plug) = 2 inch plug
Hose clamps.
1 Bolt that will fit inside fuel line.(make line plug)
Pinch either side of the fuel line with hemostats. Cut the factory clamp off and pull the hose off. Put the 2 inch plug on the tank, and that will stop the gas from coming out. put a hose clamp on it if you want so it don't leak.
Now put a gas can under the pinched line and unpinch it and let the gas drain out of that tank.
When done draining , cut that hose off the tank and put it on the other side where that plug is. Remove the plug and put that line on and let that tank drain.
Once the tanks are drained., Just cut the hose to length and replace, using new hose clamps and new fuel line.
If your quick enough you can swap the hoses out without draining the tank.
You will get gas on you no matter what.
You can cut the line, push the fuel filter and fuel line attached to it out where you fill it with gas. When you are ready to put new line in, cut the fuel line at an angle so you can push it in the hole. Keep pushing in until it comes out the fuel tank fill hole. Attach your new fuel filter to the line and pull it back until the fuel filter lays in the bottom of the tank. Then cut the line to length and put it on the carburetor. Take the other piece hook on the carburetor and put it back in the tank.
you can buy a repair steel line that is taperd on one end you can cut your old line off flush then insert new replacement in the hole then put jbweld on the connection which will seal up the seam then put rubber fuel line to connect the new line to old line
