Izone 550 senses SD card, but won't accomodate or write to it...

Hi Experts,
I have 2 izone 550s, bought at the same time. one reads a 1 GB SD card no prob, as evidenced by when powered up w/the SD card inserted, it adds ~370 available photos. The problem camera also recognizes the exact same card (shows the hollow outline frame of an SD card, as does the other camera), HOWEVER, does NOT add available photo capacity. So even tho it has the card installed (in fact, shows the icon for the card), it does not add that capacity, and immiedately goes to "Memory Full", even tho there is a large SD card it *could* write to. I've read the manual, and gone thru all the firmware settings, the 2 cameras settings are identical.

Ideas?

I would suggest the format option in the menu. i posted the manual it gives step by step getting to the format option. if it works on one but not the other even after formatting in problematic camera. I would suggest getting a different brand/size. There's a 1gig liimit, but i am currently using a panasonic 2 gig and it seems to be working at its stated size. Although i haven't filled it to see if any problems occurr.
Hope this helps.

Why won't my camera won't read the sd card I'm using?

8 gB is SDHC. Try less than 4 gB maybe even 256 mB to see if it will read those cards. But lately, all stores only sell HC cards. Try ebay, and they may charge an arm and a leg for old cards?

Sorry. The 550 works with MMC and SD cards. While SDHC cards fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in this camera. You need to go with MMC or SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

wma files won't be read, only mp3 files, in my experience. My 512 mb SD card works, but it won't read my 8 gb SDHC card. I suspect it can't manage SDHC (high capacity) cards. I haven't tested yet, because as it turns out, neither can my computer... I think I'll fall back to a flash drive.

MY GPS SAYS CAN NOT FIND HOLUXNAVI.EXE WHAT can i do?

Do you have the CD that came with the GPS? if so, does it list 1 model or two? If two, reformat a 1GB card (unit can not read anything higher than 1 GB) and open the USA folder on the CD and copy the 1 file and the 1 folder in the USA folder to the SD card. You must copy the file and folder over to the SD card and not the folder that is holding these two item, if so it will not fix the problem.

What is the capacity sd card for a polaroid izone 550

izone 550W has 16MB own internal memory. In addition it takes SD-cards. I'd say since it's quite a new model it'll handle at least 8GB card which is more than adequate (over 2000 frames on highest resolution)

4 GB doesnt work

I believe this camera only supports SD/MMC cards, not SDHC cards. Go to the kodak site to see the detailed specs. Not all devices support SDHC - most new ones do - but some only support the older SD cards.

SD Protected???

pop out the SD memory card. look for a tiny switch (lever) on the card and move it to the other position (the position that does not say "lock") and try again
