Basically, if this is the case you take your device back to the shop. If you need a solution before then though, search in google for 'iPhone firware 2g 2.2.2'. This firmware should support calls. Download the IPSW. Simply put you r phone into DFU mode (you can google how to do this). Then connect your phone to your PC. Then open iTunes. Click on the tab "*****'s Iphone". You should see the 'Restore' button. Click this WHILST HOLDING DOWN "SHIFT" (on the keyboard). Then a file browser should appear. Select the previously downloaded IPSW, and iTunes should do the rest. Simples :)

My iphone 4 goes straight to voice mail on the first ring how can i change the setting

make sure you do not have the settings set to block mode, people often confuse block mode as being the setting that blocks other devices from piggy backing on their wifi. it actually blocks calls. check the top of the phone for the symbols or icons, if you see one that you dont' understand open settings. and make changes.

IPhone: First call not connecting

Go to your settings, and then to safari, and clear the cache, and all history, and then do a master reset by holding down the home button, and power button until the apple logo appears. Let me know how that goes.

How to retrieve lost voice message on cell phone.

Though iPhone uses quite a different storage mechanism, still you can recover deleted or lost data (such as text messages, voice mail, contacts, photos etc) with a third party specific iPhone data recovery software called Tenorshare iPhone Data Recovery. I used it to recover deleted voice mails from iPhone 4s and it worked.
You can give it a shot! Download it from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/iphone-data-recovery.html

Here is a tutorial to guide you recover your voice mails:

Iphone virtual voicemail

To setup your voice mail just call your voice mail by holding down one.
And then after you set it up you can restart your iPhone and it will work.
If not call Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE or at&t at 611
Thank You. Nick
