Re: desktop screen is blank even when the cpu and monitor...
It looks like issue with either mother board or processor.
open the box and remove all memey and power it on.
if it makes a beep sound, there is no issue with processor,
else we suscpect processor.
If it make beep sound, it might be mother board issue.
And for checking monitor working condition, remove monitor data cable and see no cable connected messages comes in monitor or not

what king of monitor you have., crt or LCD, does the monitor led indicator has a green light, is there any beep when starting the cpu? how many beeps you have heard when the cpu was starting?.
if there is no led indicator light in you monitor the posibilities of that is the monitor was the problem. solution: try to check your plug in monitor if it is properly inserted in the power plug or in the vga plug correctly.
if when you power the cpu and your monitor led indicator, turn green and back in the standby mode. listen to the beep sound of cpu if theres any. solution: try eject the mem card. in the slot and clean the contact with the eraser. and put it back into the slot again after you clean it.
First make sure that all the cords are connected properly from the back of the CPU to your Monitor.I suggest you to unplug all the cords of the CPU and then plug them back in after 10min. and make sure they are all connected tightly.Next check if the power cord connected to the Monitor is attached tightly.
If you still face the problem then you will have to replace it with a new power cord whih connects the CPU to your Monitor. It is black in colour.
Hello Chelleydiao, hi, its either you have a CPU problem or the monitor itself. Check or use another monitor to see if the problem is fix. you see an blank monitor can also be caused by the CPU if it fails to boot. the aid the checking, do you see any orange light on the monitor? or any indication.... the led light on the screen in summary: green or blue means there is power and the CPU boots up.
if orange the CPU fails to boot, if there are no lights on the Monitor panels, there are problems on the monitor. check these first....I need a much detail description.
This may happen due to several reasons. First, check if the power supply line to the monitor is loose at any of the two ends. If yes, tighten it. As a simple measure, keep that blank screen and tighten the codes to see if it works.
If that is not the case, switch off your system and UNPLUG it. Then open up your CPU and clean all those dusts present there. Sometimes this problem can occur due to moisture present there. So wipe everything with dry cloth. CAUTION: DO NOT USE COTTON. USE ONLY A DRY CLOTH. Before closing down the CPU, take out the RAM(s), wipe it's tip with CLEAN COTTON slightly dipped in spirit (After Shave Lotion will do). Then put back the RAM(s) in position. This is not only to clean it, but also to make it a bit more seated. Now start up your system to check if it is OK.
If none of this works, try re-installing the OS. This is a last measure and it can fix your problem, mostly.
check your monitor's connection, its power and VGA connection to cpu, the cpu may be good but you just see black screen bec. your monitor remained off. please bring it to HP service center for more help
Make sure your monitor is connected to the proper video connection- that is if you have a video card in your machine and a video connection on your motherboard. If you connected to the motherboard and you have a video card -your screen will show nothing even though you are powered up. Dont know your situation, but just checking. Ive seen others do this.
Sounds like the cable that connects the monitor to the computer hass a loose wire connection in it. When it turns green, try flexing the cable near the connectors and see if the color changes on the monitor. I suspect that you have a wire in the cable that was not soldered properly by the manufacture. If it changes color, I'd contact who you bought it from and have them replace it. Hope thid helps. Bud
If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.
hi, there is some loose contact in the connection. Take out the cable end from the VGA socket and check the pins inside the socket for any bend inside the socket. Reconnect it, tight the connector with the socket bolts. If not solved, try for any loose solder or wire breake.
Thank you
