Compaq Laptop Keyboard for HP Pavilion DV9000 - DV9700 Logo

I have an HP Pavilion 9000 that was working just fine. We powered it down for the day and when we went to start it up the next day it would not start. Blue light is lit where power supply plugs into laptop. However when we attempt to start the laptop the keyboard lights come on for just a second or two and then the unit turns off. The blue power indicator on the front of the laptop does not come on or if it does only does so briefly and then goes out. Any ideas?

Make sure the PS or adapter you are using is good. If it does the same with another known working adapter or battery then it appears that the cmos on the mo bo is corrupted. U might try disconnecting the hard drive and optical drive to see if unit stays on. But if it still goes out then it is definitely the board and a faulty peripheral is not to blame.

If board is bad, time to go shopping since the repair is not really cost effective given the cost of the board and the high labor expense involved.

SOURCE: C500 Laptop won't come on power button just flashes

Have you tried attaching an external monitor when the LCD screen is disconnected from the motherboard? this connector is located under the keyboard strip – a piece of plastic just above the keyboard.
If it works, this way, then the video cable isn’t seated properly in the connector on the back of the screen. Plugging the video cable back in should fix the problem.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with taking apart laptops but I think that this information could be useful for you.

Hi, my DV9700 battery does not charge, adapter works but does not charge or run the computer on its own. I have had it checked and everything seems fine, they suggest the motherboard but I explained that...

This may sound stupid but try this, for some reason this seem to work on 6 and 9000 units with charging problems.
With the unit running, disconnect the battery and allow the unit to run for 60 seconds, then plug the battery back in, again with the unit running.

That a nice computer you have there. Based on your description, my guess is you have a bad power supply.
About a $300 fix if you send back to HP. Which is what I had to do a while back.

My hp pavilion dv 9000 does not start.

Hard drives are cheap. Find out what type of drive this supports (i.e. ATA or SATA), and buy a new drive. They're quite easy to replace, too. You'll just need a recovery CD to re-install your OS (operating system) after you put in your new drive.

Hp dv9000 will not start up. blue lights are go

you get a black screen right, nothing at all then no bios, no logo, nothing at all?
Do you get any beep codes and if so in what order?
did you try different ram?
First try to plug your laptop to an external monitor. If it works, you screen is bad, if it doesn't you probably need a new motherboard.
