Same problem here (though I'm not 100% sure it's a .NET issue).

Have tried calling MANY times, and can't get through.

I have the same problem as others. My computer has more than the hardware requirements.

AMD quad core
2 Gigs RAM
3870 HD video card with 512Megs of RAM
500 Gig HD with more than 200 gigs free.
Fresh install of winxp, directx 9.0c, and .Net 2.0 and all patched up from a windows perspective. I also have the latest video drivers for my video card and have installed and tried to run the application in 1024x768 resolution and have had no luck. Fortunately for my sanity and my daughter I have another computer and it works on that computer. Specs are:

AMD dual core X2 4200
1 gig RAM
ATI x1650 512 Megs of RAM
80 gig HD.

Fresh install of windows xp, directx 9.0c and .Net 2.0 patched with MS patches. I also tried it on a laptop that doesn't meet the specs. Its and older Sony Vaio VGN-S270 specs are:

Intel Centrino
1 gig of RAM
ATI 9200 mobility (32 Megs of RAM) doesn't meet the minimum specs. But it works on the laptop as well. The laptop doesn't even break a sweat using the DACS applicaiton on it.

After reading everyones issues i figure it must be a video card driver issue. I tried to see if there was a list of video cards that would work with the application on fisher price's site or anywhere for that matter but there wasn't so I figure I would post my findings in hope that I would be able to help others.

Hi all frustrated fokes out there who still have problems installing and running this new product.
We bought this too for our dissabled daughter and have found it will not work on her pc , but will work on all the others in the house ..grrrrrrrrrr...lol.

What i did find was you must have net framework 1.1 installed and updated min for the software to install . other wise it will try to install the net framework 2.0 from the disk. the net framework 2.0 is an update from 1.1 and much software that requires net usage needs this base framework.

this is the spec of the pc it do work on ...and yer it well over the min requirement

System Information
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page File: 392MB used, 3547MB available
Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

The pc it will not work on only has 256mb memory, and a 128mb graphics card. Buy the time windows boots up and all the other programs also are running there is not enought memory spare to even launch the system. So a min of 512mb installed is required on a xp system

Another point i found was when i inserted the usb windows did not register it so following the install instruction very carefully ..eg start to installing the software and when it says to insert the usb cable do so then .

When you do get it working , your keyboard and mouse will not function, only ctrl+Alt+del will to interrupt the program . The pen will be your mouse thought i'd better say that cos it fooled me at first ..lol ..

Hope this helps ...

Installation Arts & Crafts Fisher Price (Problem)

I actually have a WORKING solution!! This is the e-mail that Fisher Price Customer service sent to me after 3 calls to them, 1 to Microsoft:

"After review of the logs you sent to us, your video card NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 was last updated on 5/16/08. Please contact your video card manufacturer for an updated driver. Also, inquire if your card is compatible with DirectX 9 and DirectX 10. The Digital Arts and Crafts Studio requires DirectX 9 or higher to operate. You will then need to sign on to your computer as the administrator and update your video card." (Make sure your video card is compatible and the drivers are up to date.)

"Go to http://www.update.microsoft.com/ to scan your computer for necessary updates and make sure you check the "Software Updates" that are available. (Not just the critical updates) You will want to download and install ALL updates relating to the .NET Frame work. (Including the newer versions)."
(I just went in and installed all the updates that were waiting for me- except for things that I know I don't want, like the new IE)

"Your DXDiag is showing a DirectX error, please reinstall DirectX from the DACS installation disc.
Insert the DACS CD, and then cancel the installation when it starts.
Go to My Computer, locate the DACS CD, right-chick to Explore, locate and click into the DirectX subdirectory.
Locate the file DXSETUP.exe and launch."
(Check to see what version of DirectX you have. Even if you think it's up to date, it may be a good idea to install the version on the CD...)

I believe either reinstalling DirectX or the Windows Update saved me. I'd been having issues with Windows XP before this because remnants of my Windows 98 were hanging around and ruining things. Something in my DirectX had been creating errors as well, even though it claimed NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND...

I don't know. I just did everything, crossed my fingers, and now my little sister has her Arts & Crafts Design Studio! I hope if anyone is still checking this, this solution helps them, too.

Finally able to install...Copy the contents to the CD into your hard drive, edit the Options.ini file so that it reads ShowVideoAdapterDetails=1. It will allow you to bypass the video memory check....Hope this helps
