When I am printing shades of black/gray, the result starts black and ends white, but goes through shades of brown. As a result, printing in normal colors tends to be a bit on the pale side.
The black cartridge is new and appears to be working properly.
Any ideas?
The Grayscale print option optimizes the look of color slides for printing on a black and white printer by adding shading. The Pure Black and White option prints your slides in monochrome.

Same problem with a Canon iP3000 printer. I've cleaned it several time, have taken the ink out to shake, but no change.
Grey prints as brown Especially noticeable in nozzle check. Bracket blocks in first line (3eBK) is fine. Others should be grey, but are shades of brown & tan. Printing photo in greyscale yields great greys. Color photos are poor. Other symptoms: too much magenta and too little cyan. Brand new print head. Same problems.
