Hp color laserjet 4700 printing with shadows

If your HP Color LaserJet 4700 is printing with shadows, it could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few potential causes:
  1. Toner Cartridges: The toner cartridges may be low or empty, causing the shadows to appear. It is recommended to check the toner levels and replace the cartridges if necessary.
  2. Toner Smears: The toner smears on the drum or the fuser can cause shadows to appear on the printouts. Clean the drum and fuser with a lint-free cloth and check if the problem persists.
  3. Fuser Unit: The fuser unit could be malfunctioning and may need to be replaced.
  4. Paper Quality: Using low-quality or damp paper can cause shadows to appear on the printouts. Use high-quality, dry paper for better results.
  5. Printer settings: Some printer settings can also cause shadows to appear, such as toner density or print resolution. Ensure that the settings are set to the recommended level.
  6. Dust or debris: Dust or debris inside the printer can cause shadows, Clean the inside of the printer and check if the problem persists.
It is important to diagnose the specific cause of the problem before attempting to fix it. If you are not comfortable with troubleshooting the problem, it is best to contact HP support or a qualified technician for assistance.

Why do I get bleed through of print on pages I print out at bottom of page or shadow print on some?

Paper is too thin (use higher "pound" paper).
-or-
Toner is not of good quality (use HP Brand if possible)
-or-
Printer is set to dark or heavy in your page setup (change to normal or even light)

You can also make sure you are using an HP print driver instead of a generic print driver. Go to HP.com and search print driver for you model, download and install (if you don't already have an HP printer driver loaded on your PC).

Hp laserjet p3015 prints really dark. how can i lighten it?

EconoMode This product has an EconoMode option for printing drafts of documents. Using EconoMode can use less toner and decrease the cost per page. However, using EconoMode can also reduce print quality. HP does not recommend full-time use of EconoMode. If EconoMode is used full-time, the toner supply might outlast the mechanical parts in the print cartridge. If print quality begins to degrade under these circumstances, you will need to install a new print cartridge, even if there is toner supply remaining in the cartridge. Enable or disable EconoMode in any of these ways:
  • At the product control panel, select the CONFIGURE DEVICE menu, and then select the PRINT QUALITY submenu. EconoMode is turned off by default.
  • In the embedded Web server, open the Settings tab and select the Configure Device option. Navigate to the Print Quality submenu.
  • In the HP Printer Utility for Macintosh, click Configuration Settings , and then click Economode & Toner Density .
  • In the Windows PCL printer driver, open the Paper/Quality tab, and select the EconoMode option.

I am getting a black/gray shadow of other parts of the page down the right side of each printed page

This is called backgrounding. It is a common issue with this machine when you print past the reccomended out or use inferior remanufactured carts. This is usually either a poorly adjusted doctor blade in the cartridge, or if it is an HP cart, it has a prematurely full waste bin and is transferring waste toner to the page. Either way, replace the cartridge.

Shadowing/graying with printing

Hi fa1103:
Gray background
1. Do not use media that has already been run through the printer.
2. Try using a different type of media.
3. Print a few more pages to see if the problem corrects itself.
4. Turn over the stack of media in the tray. Also, try rotating the stack 180°.
5. Open the Configure Device menu at the printer control panel. On the Print Quality
submenu, increase the TONER DENSITY setting. See the user guide.
6. Make sure that the environmental specifications for the printer are being met.
try these steps to see if they work for you.

Low Print Quality

1) Make sure your toner is not low.

2) Make sure Print Density is set to 3. (Through the HP Toolbox.

3) Make sure EconoMode is not checked. (Printer Properties>Preferences)
