Vizio P42hd. During color or black and white, also with color turned completely down, the transition areas between shades of each light and dark areas it looks like feathers blowing in a soft wind. During color reception, the color quality is degraded. This is an intermittent problem. It sometime returns to normal after set has operated for several hours. Leroy

If your tv has a custom settings area, first turn all color down on set so picture looks black and white. Now in color settings look for red blue and green color bars. Use the bars until the picture looks as true to black and white as possible. Also, try changing color temp.

Make sure it is not in a really shaded area. If the camera does not see enough light, it will stay in black and white mode. If that is not the issue, you might want to contact Lorex directly with the Camera model number.

you have to open the back cover to check weather the screen back light need replacement. usually if the lamp is almost black in color it needs replacement. the backlight is covered with metal shield installed at the upper portion and lower portion of the panel of the tv.

All plasma an lcd TVs have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They can sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, and the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em.

only when you have a problem with the video
circuit board you will get such type of faults.so
you have to check the video board immediately.

I think it cause by vs voltage is high. You can try to decrease the Vs voltage a little bit. You can adjust the voltage while the TV is on. The Vs voltage adjustment is locate in the power supply.

Replace your sustainer boards and that should solve the problem. These are the two vertical boards on the sides of your TV.

how dark? can you see anything throught the shading.. still might be a cap in the video out circuit but the one Im thinking of shades the right side and brightens the left.

sometimes RF or HV arching causes shading on left, mute your sound and listen for sizzle noise in the back.
