tried to cook a 6 lb prime rib roast - 4 hours later at temps ranging 350-400 it was raw and cold in the center

no problem with the top burners - but the oven does not maintain temperatures between 325 and 400. Even at 400 it will just turn off.

We have a GE Spectra XL44 and problem seems to be when we preheated the oven to 350 degrees (if it ever gets there, it beeps let you know it's preheated, right). Well, go to find out it's not at 350 degrees, it's at 275 degrees. What's going on with theses ovens????????? A neighbor told me to unplug it for 3 hours and plug it back in ( a computer error or something). I would like to know the PROBLEM SO I CAN COOK!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,

We are experiencing the same problem. Our range is 6 years old and the oven has never worked right. We have had the ignitor replaced about a year ago. It worked ok for a while then it would not heat up beyond 100 deg. When it does come up to temp it shuts down and you have to reset. We are ready to junk it and buy another brand. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks -

My over in about 4 years old. I set oven to 350 it beeps ready, it's not though it's about 275-300. This darn thing will not maintain heat either. It's at 400 but is cooking at 300. Not good for chicken. I don't see any answers here. Are there?

We have the same issue. Set pre-heat to desired Temperature. Beeps and indicates it is at temperature but is really only sustaining a much lower temp.

Same thing here! Although I have noticed that if I switched from the regular oven setting to the convection setting the oven heats up to the correct temperature setting. I've contacted GE and am waiting to see what they are going to do about this problem....I'll let you know if I get a good answer....in the meantime, it would probably be helpful if everyone having this problem would also contact GE and demand they stand behind their product!

I read somewhere that its internal thermostat. GE should offer to look into this seemingly wide spread problem

SOURCE: GE Spectra XL Oven does not maintain oven temperature

The most logical solution for your problem would be a faulty thermostat, but yet at the same time i dont understand how it would heat to the temp desired then not come on at all. I would definately change the thermostat to start off with. Let us know :-D

GE Xl44 does not reach or maintain setpoint . Display indicates increases of 5 degrees/second, but temp is not reached or maintained.

Have your oven ignitor checked. If they do not get hot enough quick enough the oven will light intermit. Usually when it does light you will often get a scent of gas or a poof. If that's the case, change the ignitor
