Pull the cartridges, with the power turned off swab w/ alchol swab the communication ports that the cartridges fit into, let dry then reinsert the cartridges and turn on the printer. The com ports get infiltrated with ink wont read the new cartridges.

How do u install the ink?

For an inkjet, make sure that the printer is on (plug in and turn on for a new printer). Then open the top cover and wait for the cartridge carrier to come to a stop at the left side of the printer. Then remove the old cartridge (if needed) by pushing the cartridge down to a slight angle then pull it out of the carrier. Open the new ink packaging (one cartridge at a time) and remove the tape (do not touch the electrical contacts or the nozzles). Insert the cartridge into the carrier (black on the left) at a slight angle (towards you). Then push the cartridge up into the printer cartridge carrier. Repeat this for the other cartridge then close the top cover. (The light will blink orange if the cartridges are not correctly seated or both cartridges are not installed.) Wait for the green light to stop blinking before sending a print job to the printer. (The printer needs time to charge the system with the new ink.)

For pictures, see the set up guide: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/6/0300000636/01/iP2600_ESI_EN-US_V1.pdf or the Canon support site: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_ip_series/pixma_ip2600#ServiceAndSupport . Search for "replace ink cartridge".

If the ink cartridge carrier does not move to the left, check for any foreign objects blocking the path of the carrier. Some inkjets have a plastic guide (usually clear or translucent) that needs to be connected to the cartridge carrier. Shift it down and into position. Other inkjets can have smudges on the guide that can block motion of the carrier. (Clean with a soft lint-free cloth without removing grease from other components.)

I hope this helps.

Ink indicator keeps on blinking even with new ink cartridge.

The blinking ink light means that the printer does not recognize one of the ink cartridges. Power the printer off, pull out the power cord, wait for awhile, replug and turn the printer on. If the light no longer blinks, ok. If not, try installing another cartridge pair if you have them available - even if they are old used ones. If the ink light continues to blink with different cartridges or if you don't have any different cartridges, old or new, you have a dilemma. Do you want a new printer or do you want to continue to chase this problem. To chase this problem, get new cartridges and install them (half the price of a new printer). If that works your set, but if not you need to have your printer serviced which is doubtful that it is worthwhile doing so.

Blinking check print cartridge light and "E" for copies

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridges that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Cartridge light blinks

Try cleaning the print head first in the software options on the printer and then lightly with a qtip and alcohol or electronics cleaner. The ink jets sometimes dry up and cause the nozzels to get plugged.
