Hey sorry wasnt able to log in yesterday but the solution for your problem by guest is mine, game is now functional and kickin ass on guitar hero. let me know how everything is
I had the same problem, was playing assassins creed and was 15 min into the game when i heard the burrrrrr sound like some vibrations, but the game kept playing and i turned it off right away. didnt start up the box until christmas day i got guitar hero, tried to start it up in front of family and got the same results as you did opening and closing and not able to read any disk. found out that warrenty was out got desparate and even thought of a switch a roo with a refundable new one.
anyways found the problem! theres a magnet that sits on the disk spinner that came off and was not able to grasp game right. just found out now and glued it back in place and now waiting for it to dry, yeah i was like hell yeah problem solved. the tricky part is taking it apart, go to ; http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/repairs.htm
click on xbox repairs, then disassemble tutorail. didnt use the tool they told me to use well any ways good luck.

it means the one that wont read is scratched, dirty or defective, my advice is to clean it if its dirty, get a cd repair kit if its scratched or take it back if its defective.
Call nintendo, if there is something in the USB port in the back of the system then take it out, it could cause freezing with out disc. If all of your disc are not playing ( Unable to read disc please refer to the wii operation manual ) its a problem with the disc drive in the system, set up a repair.
i have the same problem. try adjusting the pots and clean the lens. i might work. in my case a games start working. but i have ordered a new laser lens online. still havn`t got it. i think that will solve the problem
Similar problem here. Worked fine last night. This morning...every disc put in gets you a "unplayable" response. Does play DVDs though. Weird. Called xbox and they are sending us a box for repair. This is the second time sending it in. We had the ring of death crap before and had to send it in. It was in repair when Halo 3 came out. My son was having fits not being able to play it.
xbox is not on the top of my list as being a good, reliable gaming system.
On both of those times you got H3, did you happen to move, or did the console fall while the game is play?
Do you normally have the console vertically or Horizontal?
Here is some info I found on xbox.com http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909819/en-us
I would also try calling 1800-4my-xbox if its the console doing this, you can have it replaced, if they try to charge you money you can turn to : http://www.xbox360-pros.com/
I've heard good things about them.
But you may be under warranty which you can get free replacement.
Not entirely sure but maybe the disk drive bricked, though I wouldn't replace it without looking into it more. But it would make sense consider the noises. Was there anything attached to the disc or was the disc damaged after this incident?
