Generally if you wanted to send a fax to a facsimile which is connected to an extension.you must dial only the direct line number and ask operator to transfer this call to fax (wanted extension). After you heard the fax tone you can push start button.
If the fax machine full-time connected to same extension & dedicated direct-line there only for faxing,we can program the pbx for automatically transfer the incoming fax or call to that extension.so outsider have to dial only direct fax number without ext no.
Only Panasonic PBXes having a unique feature if i'm wright if it detect fax tone from any direct line it will automatically transfers towards fax extension.
WHAT TYPE OF PHONE SYSTEM IS THIS YOU ARE USING? USUALY YOU PRESS THE A SWITCH HOOK FOR A SECOND DIAL TONE DIAL THE XTENSION ,WHEN IT STARTS TO RING YOU MAY PRESS TRANSFER ,OR WAIT FOR THE PERSON YOU ARE TRANSFERING TO ANSWER THAN ANNOUNCE THE CALLER THAT HANG UP. IF THERE IS A PBX INVOLVED YOU MAY USE A INTERFACE TO PROGRAM THE SECOND LINE ON YOUR TELEPHONE. HAVE THE I T PERSON CLEAR THE CASH.
Unless your phone is connected to a TAW-848 or higher, your extensions are numbered 101-124 maximum, or 21-36. Try going to any phone but the main one and dialing either 101 or 0 and look at the display. You'll figure out your 3-digit extensions. Now just press TRANSFER and dial that 3-digit number. The outside call is put on hold when you press transfer, so there's no need to use the HOLD button.
As an alternative, you can press HOLD, putting the outside line on hold, and dial the 3-digit number into the intercom dial tone and announce the call for line number x. Or, dial the page code 330 and announce to all phones for the person to pick up line x.
The FLASH button is for outside calls. Try the TRANSFER button. If the inside party doesn't answer, press the outside line button that's flashing green. If you have a Panasonic brand voice mail, you can also transfer the call to voice mail with another button.
What happens when you TRANSFER an outside call to that extension? If that works, you have Intercept issues which is handled with programming. If it still does not transfer, you have CF issues, started by a *710x command for both internal and outside calls.
