This has happened 2 my 360 and i have posted a similar problem but it might not be the cables but instead be the av socket in the back of the xbox...
Make sure all the tv picture and audio cables are plugged in fully, if not fully plugged in, the cables can not work at all. If that doesn't work, consider sending it to microsoft or get new cables.
There are three things you can do: 1) You can go to a store and buy a new AV cable. 2) You can call the xbox customer support at 1-877-4MY-XBOX.
and 3) You ncan just let it cool down, make sure its in a vented area so it can cool down
