Ice bucket liner requires replacement

We own a mid century silver ice bucket. The glass liner shattered. There are no identifying marks on the bucket, but it is unusual and can be opened in two directions, with the top sliding along an arc. One side hilds tongs and liquor accessories and the other side reveals the actual bucket for the ice. How do I go about getting it repaired?

Thank you, L, Feller

Water dispenser works ice maker works but no ice through dispenser

If your refrigerator's ice maker is working, but no ice is dispensing through the dispenser, there are a few possible causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the ice chute: Make sure the ice chute is clear of any ice obstructions. Sometimes, ice can get stuck in the chute, blocking the flow of ice to the dispenser. Use a plastic utensil or a straw to clear any ice buildup or debris in the chute.
  2. Inspect the dispenser mechanism: Open the dispenser area and check if any part of the mechanism is obstructed or damaged. Look for any ice blockages or misaligned parts that may be preventing ice from being dispensed properly. Clean or repair any issues you identify.
  3. Verify the dispenser solenoid: The ice dispenser is usually operated by a solenoid that controls the release of ice from the ice maker. Ensure the solenoid is functioning correctly by listening for a clicking sound when you press the ice dispenser paddle. If you don't hear a click, the solenoid may be faulty and require replacement.
  4. Check the dispenser motor: The dispenser motor is responsible for activating the auger that pushes ice through the chute. If the motor is not functioning properly, it may need to be replaced. Test the motor by activating the ice dispenser and listening for any humming or buzzing sounds. If you hear the sound but the auger is not turning, the motor may be faulty.
  5. Inspect the ice bucket: Ensure that the ice bucket is properly installed and seated in the correct position. Sometimes, if the bucket is not aligned correctly, it can prevent ice from flowing through the dispenser. Remove the ice bucket and reposition it securely.
  6. Check the water supply: Make sure the refrigerator has a steady water supply. If the water supply is interrupted or the water filter is clogged, it can affect the ice production and dispenser functionality. Check the water line and replace the water filter if necessary

The ice dispenser is not working

If your design is the conventional with a catch bucket and auger it is likely that the output has frozen and is prohibiting the cubes to enter the shoot. Remove the bucket and discard the ice. Inspect the shoot in the door and clear any ice built up. Check that the catch bucket auger is free to turn and no built up ice in the output side that lines up with the shoot.

If the door to the shoot located in the freezer door fails to close completely then frost and ice will continue to build up in the shoot.

Cycle by hand a few times to ensure that the door will close. Also when dispensing ice ensure that the arm that contacts the glass has returned to the front position ensuring that the door is closed.

Wait for a new tray of ice. It will take a minute or two for the ice to find its way to the glass from a completely emptied bucket and shoot.

Hope this has helped?

Replaced icemaker. still not making ice but everyonce in awhile. Repair man now says sensors where the ice bucket is need replaced. Do these sensors have anything to do with water filling the ice tray

Hello Gina;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
Send me your model number which is located on the liner wall of your fresh food section.
If your ice maker works some times, your freezer temperature may not be cold enough to make ice cubes.

Give me your model number and tell me more.

Out loading auger problems

if by this your saying that the ice dispenser auger has a problem ?

a few things to look at on a ice dispenser
1st remove ice bucket with auger completely out of fridge
look at back of fridge is there a build up of ice there ? if so you may have a leaking water valve for ice maker
carefully inspect the back of ice bucket to see that drive catch is not broken or missing parts
2nd verify that the door to side that contains the dispenser is all the way shut , sometimes ice build up keeps door from closing all the way to allow door switch to say ( door closed safe to dispense ice) this switch is not allways at top or bottom of door but maybe in the middle too
and last but not least , make sure all switches and childlock outs are set correct to working positions and that glass sensors detect the glass in its place

My ice in the ice maker seems to be melting together and they are fusing into big ice cubes that cannot dispense/

This tends to happen when ice has sat in the ice bucket for a couple days of non use. The warmer your kitchen the worst this tends to happen. What's usually happening is the ice bucket is sitting on the door where the ice dispenser sends it to your glass. Since the cavity in the door is exposed to the warm air in your kitchen it can work its way to the ice bucket area via the chute in the door and when the moist warm kitchen air reaches the ice cubes in the bucket it turns everything into melting ice cubes which eventually freezes at some point and clogs up the ice bucket with large globs of ice pieces that the ice crusher can't handle. About the only thing to do is remove the ice globs from the bucket and make new ice. This is not all that abnormal, just a pain though. Try putting something in the chute (small Rag?) to see if this stops it. If it does then there's not a whole lot you can do about it but use the ice machine more often so it doesn't all sit there melting together.

The ice comes down cube but it will crush in the glass

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the ice is dispensing as cubed, in your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# GLHS269ZDB, but once it hits the glass it breaks apart and crushes. Please remove the
ice bucket. Against the back freezer wall, you will see a square opening with either a white or clear switch that can be adjusted up to down. If you have a blow dryer, blow dry the square opening for about 7 min's. Once done, adjust the switch. It will either move freely or will remain in its opposite position. Replace the ice bucket. This should allow cubed ice. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Is the paddle supposed to spin

Your paddle won't turn. Your silver bucket is the one moving (turning) and not the paddle. It's working like it should. I thought the same before I found the lid (cover).

Whirlpool Gold Side By Side Ice Dispenser Problems

Instead of what you think the sound is, try and see what is happening when you actuate the ice lever. open freezer door, depress the door light switch, or tape it closed. now actuate the ice dispenser lever, does the flapping door open, that which opens to allow ice from bucket into your glass? Now look at the bucket itself, do you see the gears rotating? remove the bucket from the door, and repeat, do you see the auger shaft rotating?

Either of these are a complex repair, one I would not recommend DIYers to try on their own, for they require taking the door apart, and if not done right, your door may not close properly. Normally I have no problem advising a repair, but there are some i dont, this icemaker system, and compressors.

My ice maker makes plenty of ice, no problem with the water either. My problem is that the auger will not turn to dispense the ice out of the bin. The motor kicks on when you push in the buttom, however it...

Pull the ice bucket out, then hold in on the door light switches and while you push a glass into the button for ice (may require two people). Ice dispenser and auger will only work, when you push for ice, when the freezer door is closed, so by holding the light switch(s) in the off position with door open you can simulate door being closed. If you can push the button and see the auger drive turn (with ice bucket out) then check to see if you have some ice stuck between the blades on the bucket, if the auger motor doesn't turn, it may be "ice frozen". Common problem. Remove motor, let sit on counter for about three hours and then reinstall, if it then works then check for water dripping from the fill tube, where the water comes into freezer for the ice maker, and see if it is dripping onto auger motor.

If you put auger motor back in and it still won't turn then more and likely you need an auger motor.

Let me know.
