Samsung VP-D101 Mini DV

Camcorder focuses correctly in "night capture" mode, and in this mode the picture is clear, but in day light capture (normal mode), the picture is fuzzy, the "autofocus" or the "manual focus" doesn't bring a clear picture

Same problem here, we used the cam on our holiday. Did not use it after that and today we tried to use it. Suddenly there was a bad focus. In night view it does give a very clear picture.

Trying to find a "reset to factory defaults" option but need to find the manual first.

Camera isn't focusing correctly in normal view. Only focus correctly in night time view.

SOURCE: Can not load mini DV in my camcorder

I have the same problem. Let's face it, this canon camera is crap. I've put maybe 20 hours on it since I bought it new. I bought two of them by the way. One of them developed a problem with the microphone - $150. The other won't let me insert a tape any more and it's not because of the glide path. I can cover the sensor with my finger (simulate a tape in the carriage and it will not close, then flashes an error to remove the tape. I've tried many different tapes. Something else is telling the camera not to close if it senses a tape in the carriage. I also have the problem with the zoom going crazy. I have to tap on the side of the lid to make something connect before the zoom returns to normal.

SOURCE: Samsung VP-D31 Mini DV Digital Camcorder recording black screen

I have a brand new VP-D31. It still has the protector on the screen. I acquired this (legally!) but it has no charger, cables, battery or any etcs. I got it from the Police Auctions and was too ignorant to understand what I was getting. The item was obviously stolen from a store shelf - hence no bits. How about you buy it from me?

Picture is very blurry on screen what can i do to stop this please

Ah, my best guess would be that you have the auto-focus setting turned off. You'll have to go into the menu options (not sure exactly which ones) and look for either "Focus" or "Auto Focus" and set it from manual, to auto. Play around with the settings, get used to what they do, check in the owners manual if there's something you're not sure of, and if this doesn't fix the problem post again and I'll see what I can find out.

Blurry video recording

Since the camcorder returns to the auto shutter setting and the auto exposure setting when it's switched into Night Capture mode, I would say that might be your problem.  Change your shutter and exposure settings. To do this, switch to Camera mode, turn the menu dial to the setting you wish to change then press enter.  You may have to play with the settings until you get the desired picture. Remember, faster shutter speeds for faster action (stop action), and longer exposure settings for darker situations. Let me know if you need more help.

Samsung VP-D101 blank LCD display

John, Samsung has been having very serious problems with the CCD imagers in their camcorders for some time now. I would give them a call and let them know how disappointed you are in the camera. Almost all manufacturers having this problem are repairing the cameras at no charge to the customer. Good luck to you! Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
