Did you accidently pause radio. put sansa in radio mode and push the play/pause button.

1) Go into the settings menu, go to FM settings, and make sure the FM Region is set for United States. If you are outside the US, change it to "World"
2) The radio might initially be set for Pause - to test this, turn to a specific radio station that you know you get, and press up on the clickwheel. The "block" icon underneath the radio station should now change to a play arrow, if indeed it was on pause.

Not sure what fixed it. I formatted the player - which, of course, deleted all that was on it. I refreshed the player. and just fiddled around with it. Now the music plays and I also downloaded a couple of books onto it. Also read someof the other questions and solutions you had on your web site. Thanks for your help.

download some new songs? might just be the screen. see if you can play songs (blind navigation).
