Set the default printer driver settings to print 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inch) photos

  1. Make sure 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inch) photo paper is loaded into the photo tray. NOTE: The Photo Tray light on the printer does not have to be lit when printing from a computer.
  2. Click Start and then click Control Panel .
  3. Click Printers and Faxes .
  4. Right-click the icon for the HP Photosmart 8200 Series and select Printing Preferences .
  5. On the Paper/Quality tab, select 4x6 or 4x6 with tab from the Size is drop-down menu (under Paper Options).
  6. Make sure that the Source is box is set to Photo tray .
  7. Click the Borderless Printing box if borderless prints are desired.
  8. Click Apply and then click OK .
  9. Open the software program you wish to use and set up the pictures you want to print. Make sure to select a 4x6 inch layout for the photos within the software program before you print from the software program.

I have a MAC OS 10.4.11 and an HP Photosmart 3210 all in one. I use Iphoto and have been trying to print a 4 x 6 photo from Iphoto directly to printer. No matter what I try the photo tray does not engage...

I haven't been able to make it work from photo tray either but I do put photo paper in main tray and change settings in Iphoto accordingly and print pics that way.

When I try to print with HP Photosmart, I get

Hey Cathy,

One of my clients had this problem as well. It is due to your sensors not working correctly. In the tray there are two clips that hold the paper tight, keep trying to adjust those clips and this should solve your issue. However, if this does not solve your issue - you most likely have a hardware issue and parts will need to be replaced.

Printing on 3x5 notecards.

Some printers have a slot in the exit tray to use for envelopes and cards, if yours does not it may not support printing of cards. Please provide the model number and/or check the HP website for information.

Photos in Mac's iPhoto will not print from the photo paper tray. They always print on paper in the main paper tray (this is on an HP C7280 printer). I had an HP Photosmart 8250 and it was the same with...

This is an older post, but it appeared to be unanswered. In iPhoto once a photo is selected, you hit "Print" at the bottom right. A preview screen with options comes up. Once the correct options there are chosen, you need to hit print again - but it does not print yet. Instead a second "Print" window opens. In the middle of this window there is an "iPhoto" button with arrow buttons on the right. The arrow buttons open a drop down menu. Choose "Paper/Paper Quality" from that menu, and it will give you a button for "Source." The arrow buttons on the right of the "Source" button allow you to choose "Photo Tray."
Once it's changed, you don't need to redo it each time you print an additional photo, since iPhoto reverts to "Last Used Settings." But as a shortcut for future sessions, you can save these settings using the "Preset" button located at the top of the second "Print" window (the window where the "iPhoto" button is located). I used "Photo Tray" in the description so it would be obvious, since I don't print pictures every day.

Mac Leopard OS: Can't print from photo tray

Here's the trick. It took me an hour to figure this puzzle out myself. DO NOT select the Print icon at the bottom of iPhoto. Do NOT select Print from the File menu. DO select EXPORT from the File menu. Select the HP Photosmart Mac tab Select HP Photosmart Print.app from the app selector. Click the Export button. HP Photosmart Print.app will load with a new print dialog box. Make all necessary selections. This is where you can select the Photo Tray as the tray for the printer to take paper from. This solved MY problem! Let us know if this helps you!
