I have a compaq presario C700 and Im trying to use my uncles wifi, and its not letting me connect. I can figure out why, and Ive tried everything I know how.
You didn't specify if he has DSL or Cable internet.
With DSL, keep in mind the software
on the PC is what "dials out" to the ISP with your name / password, and
you MUST set the name and password in the router. Otherwise, ONLY the
computer that has the software installed (verizon, etc) will be able to
connect.
If you're using a cable connection, you don't have to
do this, however, most newer Linksys routers come with a 'setup' disk,
which MUST be used regardless of connection type.
What operating system is on your computer?
