I have a Toshiba Projection Television 61A61 that I cannot change the contrast once on sports. When I do change it, it automatically goes to preference and I also have these almost double type on the screen. All the other tv's in the house have good reception. I also changed to an s-video cable.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The TV will automatically turn itself off after approximately 15minutes if it is tuned to a vacant channel or a station that completes its broadcast for the day. This feature does not work in VIDEO mode. If the power is cut off while you are viewing the TV, the last mode memory feature will turn the TV on automatically when the power is re supplied. If the power is going to be off for a long time or you are going to be away from your TV, unplug the power cord to prevent the TV from turning on in your absence. You’ll also need to check the swollen/bulged capacitors on the power supply board inside the TV. The TV itself turned it off in the case of any bad capacitors or overheating with the help of built-in sensors. You’ll need to replace the swollen/bulged capacitors. Please also check the power from and to the TV.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Toshiba tv 61a61 screen all red

jeffjo7,

Your unit is 10 years old and more than likely needs the drives adjusted on the blue and green guns. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6814105-adjust_screen_drive_crt_projection_tvs

which explains the process to adjust the screen drives for the best picture.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Tshow me how replace ir sensor on toshiba tv 61a61

http://www.fixdevice.com/smanuals/file/31211.html
Please find above your service and repair manual, inside it shows you everything you need to know to accomplish this.
It is NOT a difficult task. BUT you will need a soldering iron on some sub chassis. Others use a plug and Wire, and one simply unscrews the old, unplugs from the sub board and replace. Other ones are soldered to a sub board, and need to be removed with a soldering iron. Either way it's a doddle. (Easy to do)

Stay on power light but no light or sound

No picture, no sound and all the fuses are ok, means there are no shorted components in the circuit, more than likely the tv is not generating horizontal drive to produce and feed hv to the crt and no b+ for the audio circuit. The tv is big enough to keep and repair if you are cosidering a repair estimated around 400dlls. I think the problem would be located in the deflection board.
