SD-V592SU: static noise

I know this is the forum for the 392 DVD/VCR model, but there is no such one for the 592 and this is the closest thing, so please bear with me.

The problem that I am having is that whenever I turn the power on, afew seconds afterward, a intermittent burst of static/cracking is sent through my Sharp Aquos LCD. It lasts for a few seconds.

Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone.

That's a stumper.

Personally, I have a simular unit and I just leave it on all the time.

Other than that, borrow a DVD or VCR or combo from a friend and see if it does the same thing. At least you can narrow it down to the combo player or the TV.

Was rewinding a tape, then the unit shut off. Now will not turn back on. No power at all.

OK above is some links for your user and a service manual.. use these to troubleshoot and hopefully repair your unit. This sounds like a thing called a Mode switch, inside the VCR going faulty. If you cannot sort it yourself, you need to take it to a Toshiba authorised service center and ask for a "Quote"

Static from multiple DVD's

I know what happened.

Your son was watching a porn flick and decided to pause the dvd when he saw a hot scene.

He was trying to **** off (but couldn't) and left it on pause too long, eventually burning out the unit.

No power

I've got one too that the same thing is happening. Just downloaded the schematics and parts list and hope to have this repaired soon. If someone has repaired this before, please let me know. So far, I thing the switching transformer is bad.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
