If you are storing in a cold place (below freezing) you should run automotive antifreeze through the machine mixed at a 50/50 solution with water. You will run it through until it comes out of your hose. By doing this you will prevent water left in the machine from freezing and possibly cracking parts within the pump, also the automotive antifreeze has a number of lubricants that will help your machine run smoother and last longer (DO NOT USE RV ANTIFREEZE).
Gasoline goes bad after sitting for an extended period of time.
Old school people would drain the gas out of the tank but found this lead to rust forming in the tank.
Now it is best to fill the tank with high octane gas and use a winterizing fuel additive to prevent problems.
Also remove any water from the hoses.
In the spring replace the gas and change the oil and you should be good, changing the spark plug would also be beneficial.
