You don't say what programs you're trying to use to view the pics. Why not create a folder on your desktop and drag and drop the pics into it. Then, double-click the folder and on the left hand side of the window, choose slide show. They should play.
Honestly, this is a very poor resolution camera and what you are describing sounds consistent with this product.
If in doubt, take a photo yourself (not by your child) and see if quality improves. You need a really steady hand to not use this camera and not move your hand for a few seconds after you have snapped the shot.
The only way I know of is to RE-upload the photos and click on the tickbox that says "delete all photos after loading". Otherwise, you will have to delete one at a time.
It seems the files are write protected. Do you have an external memory card in the camera? If so, you might have the memory card's lock on. Remove the memory card from the camera and switch the lock off.
The camera has to plugged into a usb 1.1 port, it will not work with a usb 2.0 port. Try using the additional usb ports on a monitor or keyboard. Otherwise you will need to use a usb 1.1 Hub.
