I have a 99 GMC Denali I had a local store hook up all the stuff to adapt from bose system to a after market CD player a Alpine model# cda-9827 and I put a sony 1200 watt amp in to.My problem is I can't get the amp to work or push the subs.I've did everything.I also noticed when I un hook the rca the subs where still leting the sound from the radio come through. It's driving me nuts i really need help please....
Hi there by the sounds of things they may have connected a high input feed to the amp as well as the rca leads but the amp is probably not switching therefore will still let sound pass straight throught amp as a junction, you need to check that sub channel on the headunit is on and the amp is powering up there should be a signal light on the amp
Any idea how this is all wired up?
I think what they have may used is an 'RF modulator kit' to get the signal from your stereo to the amp. These are commonly used when factory stereo's don't have any outputs on the back of them for adding external amps. Even so, when you unplug the RCA cables there should be no signal coming to the amp & no sound coming out of the speakers/subs that are subsequently connected to the amp either.
