Hi there by the sounds of things they may have connected a high input feed to the amp as well as the rca leads but the amp is probably not switching therefore will still let sound pass straight throught amp as a junction, you need to check that sub channel on the headunit is on and the amp is powering up there should be a signal light on the amp

Any idea how this is all wired up?
I think what they have may used is an 'RF modulator kit' to get the signal from your stereo to the amp. These are commonly used when factory stereo's don't have any outputs on the back of them for adding external amps. Even so, when you unplug the RCA cables there should be no signal coming to the amp & no sound coming out of the speakers/subs that are subsequently connected to the amp either.

Hi -

Sony CD player Red / White RCA - > CD input RCAs on the Arcam.

From the Arcam Preamp Output RCA's, go to the Bose "Input". From the Bose "Output", you need RCA splitters to make them into four outputs to run your amplifier connections.clmrt5000_2.jpgclmrt5000_3.jpg

The sad part about installing into alot of GM cars is that the Harness is about $100 bucks

You need a Metra GMOS-01

You need a metra 40-GM30 ( Antenna adapter, since the stock plug wont plug into after market radio)

And a Metra 99-2003 ( dash kit

Please Help ....i have Bose Acoustimass 10, 5.1 system connected

Usually the LFE out is only a line out and is not amplified in any way, so first of all is your subwoofer self amplified or not? Cause if not, the LFE output won't be of much use to you. So if it's not self amplified you need an new amplifier to put between the receiver and the subwoofer. Any amp that supports RCA line-in input will do. Even a car stereo amplifier will work provided you can get a 12volt power supply to run it in the house. If the subwoofer is self amplified though, then all you need is to make an adapter cause none are readily available in stores to go from a RCA connector to 2 wires. You can buy a virgin RCA connector that you can wire yourself at The Source, Circuit City, or any electronics store you have locally, or if you have an old RCA to RCA wire you don't need anymore, you can just cut it in half, strip the 2 wires and you got you adapter right there.

Can't get my amplifier to work.

My homie had the same problem with his escalade they adapted an rca line adapter from the factory wiring to geta signal to his amplifier and it just wasnt hitting like it should so we installed a new deck and plugged the rca cords right into it and boomboom pow it was hittin like a champ-we figured that the stock premium system that was incoprporated into the truck had some sort of an onboard amp that was filtering the bass from the door speakers and which was limiting the bass output to the rca adapter and thus on down the line to the amplifier- so maybe ya might want to look into getting an aftermarket deck and see if that helps your cause-good luck
