The problem I am having is that when I am trying to turn the volume up a little it jumps and gets really loud and vice versa. Do you have any idea of how to fix my problem?
I just got my mm50 and it is doing the same thing. Either there is no sound at all, or when I press the volume up button once it gets extremely loud. Is this supposed to happen. I'm a little unsure about opening the speakers up to clean them.I just got my mm50 and it is doing the same thing. Hi, there is no way to fix that, if the problem is from the control on the speakers, that is a problem inside the conector that fix the volume, have to open carefully, and clean all contactc, that should fix that, but do it carefully.

Glue will not usually work---use something not sharp like a plastic wand to activate the micro switch---as far as the buttons they are usually a one piece part that is either melted in place or screwed--may be a little hard to locate.
The first thing you could do is trying another charger of the same type, if the battery starts charging you'll only have to get a good charger, if it doesn't, you have a failing charging jack, circuit or battery at portable speakers.
I am 100% sure the battery is dead.
Opening my mm50 I find that the small 2"X 1/4" battery is attached to the back, very near the charging socket. The battery is connected to the circuit board through a small plug-socket arrangement - no soldering here like iPod. So, it would not be difficult to replace it by a DIY enthusiast. But it would be difficult to find this non-standard replacement battery. Better leave the job to Logitech service, they'd would certainly replace it on charge basis.

Check the cables and see if there is a tear, or unscrew the cover of the speaker (if possible) and see if the contact is frayed or only holding by a couple of wires. This will reduce the sound quality.
If not, the speakers are faulty, and they are not worth replacing. Just purchase a new set.
