Sony trinitron KV32fv15 Had in garage for about 4 weeks...no problems whatsoever with it, just replaced it with an LCD. Sold it and got a call that they have sound but no picture and the standby light is flashing on the front. Suggestions?

4 times standby light blink shows that tv got problem in vertical deflection section and probably vertical output IC got defective, need to be replaced.
Replacement of parts in circuit board requires soldering work and expertise so call local tv repair shop guy if you are not familiar with soldering work.

In sony tv`s the 4 blink code(sony error codes)usually means that there is a vertical deflection problem.
It is often caused by a faulty vertical output i.c and/or related components. If you feel handy with a soldering iron let me know and i`ll help you with it.

I have KV-X2982U, With the television on 4, Grip the top side of remote control RM-833 and reverse it, putting it back in the holder. Press Menu on the remote. Several options appear. Press the white button "Preset". You can then manually tune in the setting to channel 4 by pressing the green button, or alternatively you could tune in all channels automatically by pressing red. You may get a better signal on the other channels this way. Good Luck.

I had the same issue earlier this week. 4 year old sony trinitron wega 32 in. I was told by Sony to call technician to repair and have called tech....could be anywhere from $200-$300 repair. I did research the blinks (google "sony blinking codes" to find out what each means) Ours was 6-7 blinks which meant power surge to tv. I advised to Sony that i saw many of the same issues with many of the newer tv's and suggested a recall issue--they denied and where no help.
I will buy a new tv now--definitly not a Sony.

OPTION 1- TAKE THE BACK OFF THERE ARE 2 SMALL SCREWS YOU WILL NEED A SMALL SCREW DRIVER TWIST THE ONE ON TH RIGHT UNTIL BLINKING GOES AWAY THE VIBRATION FROM THE VOLUME WILL CAUSE IT TO GO OUT OF WHACK AGAIN SHORTLY WITH IN WEEKS. JUST KEEP DOING THIS.
OPTION 2 - TAKE THE TV OUT BACK GO TO YOUR LOCAL SPORTSMAN WHAREHOUSE PURCHASE A SKS AND SHOOT THE CRAP OUT OF THE PEICE OF CRAP. THEN GET A CREIDT CARD AND PURCHASE A NEW LCD NOT A PLASMA

i had the same problem, was just playing halo on it it turned of an now will only go on standby an the screen stays black. i have been told to check all the solders (about 100) to see if any are burnt or have a problem.

Hi there, there is a malfunction when you have the small red light flashing. Please ask the tech to repair it for you. Possible cure is: Replace vertical IC561 (STV9379) and R526 (0.47R).
