How can I re-enamel an old wood burning stove?

I have an old wood burning stove that has loads of chips in the brown enamel paint. I don't want to go to the expense of sand blasting it, just to spray some colour over the chips to make it look a little better. I do still burn wood in the woodburner, otherwise I would just spray a cheap paint over it. I need a very high temperature paint.

For my outdoor burner i use Krylon high temp flat black which works great for me, Sherwin-Williams has a large variety of high temp paint for your application.

I have burned on food around the burners of our gas stove. My mom says a oven cleaner with remove the paint. What should we use

It's enamel, not paint, so oven cleaner would be okay. This works, too: soaking a rag in ammonia and letting it sit there for a while to soften the goo. Then can use the plastic scrubby things, but the green ones or the Brillo pads will scratch the enamel. Rag and elbow grease also okay. Keep at it; it will polish off eventually.

The enamel on the bottom of my oven has started to flake can i buy paint to repair it before it goes rusty

You can buy enamel paint , depends where the rust is, you can buy heat proof paint if it is inside the oven.
If it is outside then treat it with a rust inhibitng paint first.

I need to repair the enamel in the base of my oven. It has been removed in somne areas.

they make special appliance enamel touch up paint, which is good for a knick and a chip here and there. If its a bigger job than that, you may want to use a higher heat enamel. Ive used high heat engine enamel purchased at an auto parts store, which they formulate to work with the heat of car engines. It comes in a spray can, so it depends on the scope of the project/repair.

Melted aluminum foil on oven floor

Hi there,

I'm not up on my science, but..it's like welding, or more like soldering, chances are it's a high temp metallic enamel paint, and the two fused creating a mechanical bond. Your stove is cooked. You may be able to scuff the bottom and repaint it with a new coat of high temp enamel.
Just remove the racks, undo the clips that retain the heating element,(so you can lift it some, DO NOT try to remove it) tape off the bottom to create nice clean edges, using a piece of 80 grit sandpaper scuff the paint really good, lay down a coat of primer if the directions call for it, and follow the directions on the can. Don't worry about the clips, close the door and turn the stove on to the temperature specified on the can, and leave it on for the time stated. It will bake to a smooth glossy finish.
Most of the products I've used go up to 1000 degrees, and bake at 400 for 4 hours.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Burn mark

Most likely the brown stain will NOT come off, if the stain comes off the paint will come with it. Replacing the control panel is the option for making it look good again. Sorry to bring bad news.

Oven enamel chipping

The only solution I know of for the enamel coming off on these units is replacement of the unit, and since it is 4 years old you are going to have a tough time getting dacor to replace it or even give you a credit towards a new one. I have never actually seen the problem on a Dacor. Does the unit have a hidden lower bake element? If you cannot seee the elemnt its hidden, and you cannot put tin foil on the floor of any unit wiht a hidden bake element, as it will damage the finish. I know this isnt much help, but I work on Dacor products regularly as we are an authorized servicer, and I can't say I've ever seen a finish problem on one. Best bet at this point is to call Dacor and see if they will do anything about it. Good Luck!
