This is just an error message. Yes, your HP Pavillion has USB 2.0, but there's a possibility that your USB flash drive has USB 1.1 specs.

If the flash drive has USB 1.1 specs, you would still get the same message. Again, this is just a message because USB 2.0 is backwards compatible with USB 1.1.

Have a great day!

1. You have installed Windows XP from _other_ than the CD-ROMs that came with the computer, and there are no drivers installed for the USB 2.0 ports.

2. How many USB ports does your computer have?
Same message on _every_ port?

3. Access 'www.hp.com', click 'support', enter your model-number, and look for downloadable drivers for your specific model and your USB ports.

Recently, when I insert a USB flash drive into my laptop's USB port, I get the message: This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a HI-SPEED USB 2.0 port.

Your laptop has USB1 port and the USB 2 message will appear if you plug an USB 2 device into this USB port.
You maybe able to upgrade the USB port to USB 2 if there is a BIOS upgrade available from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.
If not you maybe able to get an USB 2 PCMCIA card to install into the PCMCAI slot on your laptop.

USB's slow and external drive

For the USB ports, you may want to verify that the drivers for the "enhanced USB" are up to date and for USB 2.0 or 1.1. USB 2.0 ports are generally backwards compatible for 1.1 devices. The "enhanced" does indicate USB 2.0 controller. 30mins to backup 3GB to your external drive is a VERY long time. USB 2.0 transfers data up to 480mbps, but if you get an error message indicating that the device can perform faster on a 2.0 port, you maybe transferring data at 12mbps which is USB 1.1 speed

To speed up the transferring of data, identify which USB contoller in Device Manager is the USB port you're having a problem with, and delete it from Device Manager. Then, plug in your external drive into a USB port its never used before.

As for the naming of hard drives, Hitachi partners with several drive manufacturers including Dell and IBM.

It shows this device can perform faster. the pen drive is slow

this is usb issue
your computer usb has a lower version than your pendrive
you cannot use better drivers because this is from mainboard chipset
Also you can put a pci usb card version 2.0 for your pendrive

Webcam driver for window vista ultimate for hp pivilion dv 6000 laptop

i think your problem is that even though the camera is there on your laptop it does not show any attatched devices like camera in it, it is because vista will not detect any usb camera devices as Xp. Try using some camera management software like WinDVR or something else

Usb 2.0

Hi,
this is a common error with operating systems and devices.
If you go into my Computer/system/device manager. And remove the installed USB devices. shutdown the computer, and reboot it. then try putting your USB device in.
What general happens, is that if you have had an older device in the USB port at any time, the port configures itself to this setting. options are to try another port on the computer ( some older ports only support usb1.1 )
ensure you have up to date drivers on the connecting device and on the connecting computer.
Hope this helps Mike @ Compurepair.

Try opening up the device manager and unistall everything in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Then reboot and let windows reinstall the USB controllers. Windows should now be able to recognize properly USB2 devices.
