You need to check again how you are erasing with the PC.Try opening the the memory stick folder on your pc, and deleting some shots one by one.You should be asked each time to confirm you want to delete. You can then check if they have actually been deleted by looking in your recycle bin.
I don't ever clear the memory stick of my cybershot outside of the camera. After download, I delete with the camera. That way I know my card will stay properly formatted for my camera.

the memory stick pro duo should fit right into the sony cybershot....
if your struggling to load your photos onto your computer buy a universal memory card reader!
you should try and use a memory stick in a camera that needs an sd though!

Erasing protected pics - Sony Cybershot dcs w-55

Formatting will erase all pictures, including protected images.
  1. Turn on the camera
  2. Press the menu button
  3. Press the "right" pad control button
  4. Then press the "down" to go to Setup (looks like a toolbox) then press "right" again
  5. Then arrow down to the Internal Memory Tool and choose Format by pressing the Center Control Button in the middle of the Control Pad.
  6. or, if you have a memory stick where the image is, select memory Stick Tool and choose Format by pressing the Center Control Button in the middle of the Control Pad.
Hope this helps, if it does, please select FixYa! ThankYa!

Memory card

Hi - no, the DSC-P7 isn't compatible with Memory Stick Pro, only original Memory Stick, meaning you're limited to 128MB/stick. Having said that, the P7 is only a 3.2MPixel camera, 128MB will hold quite a few pictures, even at full resolution.
