It was working fine for 1.5 years and then all it does is blink on and off CENTON. I left it alone for 3 hrs came back and it was still blinking on and off. Seems like it is failing to start-up correctly.

You might try reformatting the disk in your computer. if that does not work, contact Centon...this device has a 1 year warranty. ... you will need the receipt.

SOURCE: centon digital mp3 player problem

I don't know if this will work for you but make sure that the hold button on the side of the mp3 player is not "on" - you have to slide it off.

If the player itself works OK, then it's most likely a damaged USB cable or port that is the casue.

Mac book and a centon mp3 player

Presuming you're running OS X and not booting into MS Windows, you shouldn't need any drivers at all. I see the same logo, etc. on my centon's display when I plug it into my Mac (via a hub), so that's a good sign.
If the centon doesn't show up on your Mac's desktop, does it show up in Disk Utility? If it does, and it's grayed out, try selecting it and mounting it. If it doesn't show up in Disk Utility, does it show up when you open System Profiler and click on 'USB' in the left-hand column?
If it doesn't show up at all, try plugging it in with the battery installed.

When i turn on my centon mp3 player, the screen comes on and says "mp3player" but then doesn't do anything. the screen just stays like that and none of the buttons will do anything either.

I had the same problem--It turned out to be corrupt data on the USB drive.

Remove the battery.

Make sure the "HOLD" button is "OFF" and insert the drive in your computer's USB port.

Find the USB drive in your "My Computer" menu and right click on it, then click "Format." (Note: Some computers to not supply power to certain USB ports. If you do not see the USB drive, try another port. If you can't find it using any port, put the battery back in and try again.)

Quick-format the USB device as at FAT, FAT16, or FAT32.

To prevent drive/data corruption, ALWAYS click on "Safely remove hardware" in your computer's taskbar and "eject" your USB device before removing it from the USB port.

You should have all menus and functionality restored, it worked for me.

I have a centon 2GB Digital MP3 player. I plugged

Remove the battery, then put it back in, restart windows and plug it in,
make sure windows see the devise.

If you removed it while it was still loading, you could have locked the devise
from working, and you will have to send it to the MFG to get it fixed.

Go to there website and see how you have to send it back.

How can I charge my centon 4gb mp3 player?

I have the same player. You can use a rechargable battery. But you cannot charge the battery by connecting it to the USB. You must charge the battery with a AAA battery charger - they sell them at walmart for like $15. The rechargable battery really works excellent in this player - I listen to my player all day long and rechargeable batteries are the only way to go for me! Make sure you have four batteries though so you can always have a backup charged as the charger takes 8 hours to charge the batteries.

My zune wont charge at all even when its plugged in

OK this seems weird but if you have like a Nintendo Wii or a PlayStation 2 or 3 take you sync cable and plug your zune into the usb port on the system because sometimes the battery is just so dead that it dosent have enough power for the computer pick it up. mine done this a few days ago and i left it plugged into my Nintendo Wii over night and it started working again

Ilo mp3 player won't turn on

Ok, SOME MP3/4 Players indeed charge from the USB port, albeit slowly... usually tho there comes a charger that plugs into the "Mains" and then plugs into the USB socket on the Player.. Sometimes if the Battery goes really "Flat" the USB port is unable to supplu enough "Current" sucessfully charge it up. (Hence the need for wall charger) IF it was entirely Via USB it would take many hours, I would at least think overnite. Hope that hepls.
