Dryer keeps drying and getting too hot

About 4 months ago, our 2 yr. old Whirlpool duet sport dryer started taking longer to dry ''some'' loads, but the most unusual problem has been that, even though the clothes (using the automatic cycle) were COMPLETELY bone dry, the dryer was showing that ''99'' minutes were left to go (sensor said wet!) and the dryer on the outside was burning up hot to the touch!

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer front load leaks water underneath the dryer when drying heavy duty clothes

The clothes then are too wet for the heat to evaporate. Spin extra time to get rid of as much water as possible before putting them in dryer.

Dryer doesnt get hot anymore after 2 yrs

You may want to check the dryer interior cabinet and/or the entire exhaust duct run to ensure you don't have any clogs. The following link explains many of the problems that can cause poor drying efficiency and longer dry times:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3578821-dryer_takes_too_long_to_dry

Before assuming you have a problem with the appliance, check your installation to ensure you are providing the dryer with proper exhaust and air flow. A dryer in a clogged state or having improper air flow will not dry efficiently and will cause the heating circuits to actually overheat. Eventually, this can lead to component failures and is the source of fire hazards.

If you have any questions, please post back an let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Gas dryer heating element won't come on.

There is a controller problem to turn on the gas manifold to produce heat. Since you have it only one week old, let's take the advantage of the warranty to have a new controller unit replaced.

Dryer not drying

look at the vent outside and see if it closing or even has a cover this allows cold air inside the dryer and cause it to take longer to dry

Propane Gas Dryer (Whirlpool DUET Front Loader) not drying

huuum At your service!

Did this tech do some wash to the dryer and feel that there was no heat?
He was not a good tech

Sometimes this can happen when the vent line is clogged.

1. Check if the lint filter is full and needs to be cleaned.
Try this first.
2. Then check if the outside screen covering the exhaust vent if this is even half blocked
with lint there will be no heat! This screen is to keep small animals out!
Try checking this and if it is clogged or the spring loaded door is stuck closed.
Try to clean the lint out of the corners of the flap door,
and or remove the screen permanently!
NO ANIMALS LIKE TO GET BURNT,IT'S HOT IN THAT TUBE! They sense this and stay clear.
It is 2 years that mine is off and all is fine.

You will be fine

Whirlpool Duet Electric Dryer 4yrs old, not drying the load completely

The sensors are two metal strips inside the drum. They are on the right side just behind the filter. They are silver colored and have a slight curve to them. You cannot see them unless you put your head inside the drum. I clean my sensors with a non metal pot cleaner like 3M Scotch Brite. These sensors also fail if you dry silicon backed carpets.
