When I plug in my Tom Tom 630 to the computer, it says the device is not recognized. It also seems to take longer to access the GPS signal. Any help is appreciated. Freddie

I just called TomTom support, I was instructed to hold the reset button on the bottom of the unit for 15 seconds and then reconnect the GPS to my computer. It worked, TomTom Home opened and I was able to apply the updates.

I had a similar problem with my 520GO. After a year with no problems all of a sudden my computer would not recognise it and it wouldn't connect to my phone by Bluetooth. Tried Tom Tom - no use! I had UK maps on the device and Western Europe on an SD card. By chance I removed the SD card and everything worked as normal. It's worth a try......!!

It could be a drver issue or a IRQ issue. Try unpluging a usb device that you don't normally use for a moment to see if this takes off.

Go to the tom tom website and download the correct driver. I know on garmin's they have a scanner there website to find out what model number that you plug in.

Windows 7 will not recognize my tom tom go 630

Lots of folks having this problem with differernt model TomToms. It's the USB on the TomTom.

You'll need to "reset" the unit, using a paperclip or narrow pen, hold the reset button in for about 5 seconds and you should be good to go. On the 630 it's on the bottm, right next to the USB port.

Hope this helps!

My Tom Tom cannot find a GPS signal or sattelite signal. It has been working fine but is no longer able to find a signal or where i am. i have turned it on and off and can navigate through all the pages...

When was the last time you updated the QuickFix of your TomTom? It helps your GPS to find the satellites.

Please, do the following:

1) Install "TomTom Home" software in your computer from www.tomtom.com
2) Start TomTom Home in your computer
3) Plug in the GPS dock to your computer's USB port and place the GPS on the dock. The green light on the bottom right of the GPS should turn ON to indicate that the GPS is getting power from the dock and charging
4) Start your GPS while being in the dock. If the GPS asks "do you want to connect to computer" answer "YES"
5) The TomTom Home software will detect the GPS and check if there are any updates for it. Then you'll be offered updates to install. Some are free, some are not. You choose the ones you want to install.
Please, report back if you need further assistance

Go 730 not sending a fm signal

Hi,

If you have made a recent update this may be the reason you may have lost your FM transmission!!

Tom Tom disabled silent FM transmission on these units to comply with the law in certain countries which prohibit these FM transmissions. Later updates configured the units to output lower strength FM transmissions.

There is a possible workaround for this - see this link for a discussion on the issue.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa

For god sakes someone help!!!!!!

The order in which you turn on the two devices seems to make a difference.

This is a common problem with the LG when trying to connect to many other devices, not just the TomTom.
