Reset to Default/Factory setting

Hi Venita, ya need to pop the back cover and remove the battery and you will see a heap a numbers and one of em will be the serial number.

Do a factory reset. That will reset the router to the factory defaults and then you can use the default username and password to login and reconfigure the settings. Since you didn't post the router make/model I can't tell you exactly how to perform the reset, but if you go to the manufacturer's website they should detail the steps needed to reset your particular model.

Resetting the Router will erase all of your settings (WEP Encryption, Wireless and LAN settings, etc.) and replace them with the factory defaults.

If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.
To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds.
Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and configure it again.
To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.

To reset your router, use the following steps:

1. Press the reset button for 30 seconds.
The settings should now be returned to the factory default settings, meaning any changes you had made would be deleted.

2. Open up your Web browser and enter “192.168.1.1′ in the address bar.
3. For the login, leave a blank ID and enter “admin” as the password.

Through the Web Administration Pages The second method involves logging into the Web administration pages of the router. Use the following steps to reset the router using this method:

1. Open your Web browser and enter the IP address of your router. By default, the address is “192.168.1.1′.
2. Enter your user ID And password when prompted. Hopefully this has been changed, but if it hasn’t, the default is no ID and “admin” as the password.
3. At the top of the Web page, click “Administration” and then “Factory Defaults”.
4. Beside “Restore Factory Defaults”, click “Yes”.
5. Now click the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the Web page.

Your WRT54G wireless router should now be reset to the factory defaults

Easy, reset the router itself, should have a tiny pin hole in the back that has a button that you must compress, just google reseting your model.

How to Access the Web-Based Utility

Log in to the switch as an administrative user (using the login command).

You can type the following command:

reset {config|system}

If you type "reset config" all of the factory default settings are restored on the switch except for the IP address, user
accounts, and the switch history log.

If you type "reset system" all of the factory default settings are restored on the switch.

If you just type "reset" by itself, the switch’s current IP address, user accounts, and switch history log are retained. All other
parameters are restored to their factory default settings.
