My daughter had a leapster about 2 years old- with about 10 games. Recently it hasn't been recognizing many of the games. We purchased a new pink l-max leapster and it won't recognize any of the games...not even the newest ones we bought 2 months ago. My son recently began having the same problem or the question mark appearing, but his happens in the middle of a game? If you take the game out and put it back in, it seems to get rid of the problem temporarily. What does the question mark mean on the screen of the leapfrog leapster when you insert a new game cartridge? We tried blowing out the cartridge with compressed air as well as rubbing on the contacts with an eraser. We also blew out the game where the cartridges are inserted -- still doesn't recognize cartridges. What does the question mark mean on the screen of the leapfrog leapster when you insert a new game cartridge? I have a problem with my Leapster Leap pad where it suddenly will not play the Spongebob Squarepants Through the Wormhole game. It was working up to this point but suddenly stopped working. Note the other game we have - Cars works just fine. I already cleaned out the Leapster and tried blowing out the Leapster and Cartriage to no avail. I think I might have to call up Leapster and wrack their brains with this one. I don't think I'm going to buy anymore of these if they are not going to last more than 6 months of off and on use. I've had Nintendo cartridges that have last longer than these. :( I have a problem with my Leapster Leap pad where it suddenly will not play the Spongebob Squarepants Through the Wormhole game. I just called Leap Frog and they told me to take an eraser and rub the contacts of the cartridge and get them super clean, blow out ALL the debris and that should fix it. So far so good...

Instead of 1 starter game and a few demo game that you get from Leapfrog Connect, you can also get more downloadable games for your Leapster 2. You can get it here: leapster-2.blogspot.com But you have to make sure your Leapster 2 have SD Card and your Leapster 2 can connect to PC using Leapfrog connect. Try to uninstall and re-install the LeapFrog Connect and wait until it finish configuring and updated the software both on the PC and the console, It may takes 10-20 mins for it to complete updating.
One more thing, you have to make sure that you get latest LeapFrog Connect software from LeapFrog website instead of installing it from supplied CD.

Answer I had the same problem and here is the answer I found
at leapfrog.com which fixed my daughter’s disney princess leapster 2’s
problem. Good luck!
If your Leapster2 does not respond to the stylus pen, it needs to be calibrated. Calibrating the Leapster2 is easy:
1) Ensure that a cartridge is not inserted
2) Hold down the Hint (?) button while turning the unit on. Continue to
hold the Hint button down until the LEAPSTER menu appears.
3) When the LEAPSTER menu screen appears, press the A button
4) Touch each of the crosshairs that appear with the stylus
5) Restart unit

Thanks I fixed it myself by blowing onto the contacts inside the game card!
