On the back of the phone bottom half, push down where it meets the top half and at the same time push (slide) it down away from the top half. It's very tough but it will work.

How do I install a new battery? The manual doesn' t cover this.

Many garden tractors have the battery located under the seat. Move the tractor to an area you can work easily in and shut off the ignition.

1 Access the battery / compartment.
2 Identify the (-) Negative and (+) terminals on the battery.
3 Note orientation of the battery (-) or (+) as it is installed in the tractor.
4 Place a piece of tape on the (-) battery cable's insulation and another near the (-) battery terminal.
5 Photograph the battery with cell phone, etc.
6 Remove any clamps or brackets if they will be in the way of removing cables.
7 Remove the (-) cable from the battery terminal first by loosening the bolt or screw with required wrench, battery pliers, screwdriver, etc. by lifting it up / sliding out of the terminal.
8 Remove the (+) cable from the battery terminal last by loosening the bolt or screw with required wrench, battery pliers, screwdriver, etc. by lifting it up / sliding out of the terminal.
9 Remove any clamps or brackets if not already done previously.
10 Lift the battery out of the compartment straight up without tilting to prevent spilling acid from the battery.
11 If acid is not already in new battery: place new battery on several layers thick of newspaper and
a add battery acid to new battery as per instructions included with the battery.
b Place caps on battery when filled.
12 Identify the (-) Negative and (+) terminals on the new battery.
13 Place a piece of tape near the new battery's (-) terminal.
Place battery into compartment so that it is in the same relative orientation as step #3 above. This will ensure both cables will reach the correct terminal on the battery.
13 Check installed battery to photo to be sure it is oriented correctly.
14 Install any clamps or brackets if they will not be in the way of installing cables.
15 Connect the (+) cable [no tape] to the (+) battery terminal [no tape].
16 Double check that the (+) connection is correct and tight.
17 Connect the (-) cable [with tape] to the (-) battery terminal [with tape].
18 Double check that the (+) connection is correct and tight.
19 Install any clamps or brackets if not previously done in step #14 above.
20 Dispose of newspaper, acid container, etc in trash.
21 Recycle old battery where new battery was purchased / collect deposit.
Done!

How to remove the battery to pandital

Removing the PDN bottom coversCaution Be careful not to put too much pressure on the display, there's glass under there! The larger back cover slides down away from the smaller cover. there s is a seam on the back that divides the two It is held in place internally by 2 strips of double sided tape, one on each side. Start by working a thin plastic tool guitar pick into the horizontal seam under the Pandigital logo. The cover is held securely by clips on the sides one in the center of the seam. As you open the seam, you are trying to overcome the grasp of the double sided tape & that's all. Be sure slide the cover down sufficiently 1/8 before you try to lift it up. Once you move it far enough to hear the hold of the tape let go, you should be able to lift the cover off. There is nothing electrical connected to the back cover. In the video, the double sided tape has already been removed & the cover slides open more easily than the first time. It is not necessary to remove the tape, as it will loose some of it's holding power & the cover will usually be easier to remove in subsequent attempts Removing the smaller (upper) back cover This info is a bit more sketchy, as I have not found detailed instructions, instead it is a collection of tips from those who have done it. The top of the back plate will be where the most resistance is. What I found is that you need to get the upper right side loose first if looking from the back once that's loose, you basically pry it off from there. It is very difficult to get off, even after the tape is detached. Every time I've done it I was sure I broke the **** thing because you get that cracking sound that makes your hair stand on end This cover does not slide to be lifted off like the larger cover. Instead you pry the sides OUT, because the tabs that hold it on push straight IN. Once you get those it's a matter of overcoming your fear and pulling hard enough to tear loose from the tape. Also, be smart. The top doesn't slide, but it has to be pushed UP to clear the switches. and remove the sd card

The screens gone all multicoloured?. Doesn't let me see anything. Tried switching it on and off and taking the battery out but nothing works.

Hello,

The reason the phone went all multicoloured is simply because there is a problem with the flex of the phone.

the flex is the mechanism behind the screen of the phone that allows the phone slide up and down.

You have to get a replacement flex, which is a flat ribbon.

To fix this;
  1. Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card,
  2. Remove the plastic sticker shown below. It should peel away easily. Now remove the five screws you can see,
  3. The battery compartment should now be loose and can be removed,
  4. Now detach the circled ribbon connector. It attaches like a plug and socket so simply lift it up, away from the phone, to unplug. Lift this up carefully.
  5. Lift the circuit board from the bottom, You'll notice it is still attached by another ribbon. This detaches like the previous ribbon,
  6. Remove the six black screws you see then pull the slide in the direction shown by the arrows in order to remove it,
  7. Push the slide up to reveal four more screws. Unscrew these,
  8. Lift the metal part away from the body of the phone, Slide the ribbon through the gap then completely detach the metal part you just unscrewed. It will be held in place quite tight at the top, where the camera is, so just wiggle it around until it releases,
  9. the ribbon you just slided through the gap is the flex,
  10. carefully replace it with a new one,
  11. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.

My sony ericsson w595 turns off when i flip open it

Hi,the problem you are experiencing with your phone is as a result of a weak flex connector cable.it has to be replaced, here's a detailed solution on how to replace the cable. STEP 1. Tools required: Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.
  • Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card.
STEP 2. Run something like a credit card under the metal plate at the top of the phone. It is stuck down tight with double sided tape but it will come away with a little force.
STEP 3
  • Starting near the top of the phone, run your credit card along the join of the front cover. When you have released the cover as much as shown below, slide the cover down to remove it (clips hold the cover on at the bottom which will be bent if you don't slide the cover off).
STEP 4 You should now have the front cover removed. Remove the small screw you can see. STEP 5
  • With the slide open halfway, lift the up the part you've just removed the screw from to reveal three ribbon connectors. Each connector has a black latch which you need to flick over the release the ribbon
  • STEP 6
  • You now have the LCD screen removed. You don't need to go any further if you only want to replace the LCD.
  • STEP 7
  • Remove the speaker and connecting ribbon etc. It's just stuck down lightly. Remove the two screws you can see at the top of the phone.
  • STEP 8
  • You now need to lift the keypad up. It's stuck down lightly with double sided tape. Remove the two screws you can see.
  • STEP 9
  • Run your credit card around the join of the grey part of the phone to release a number of clips. Turn the phone over and release a few more clips in the battery compartment.
  • STEP 10
  • Your phone should now look like below. Two small bezels (shown in the picture) will pop off when you remove the back part of the phone. Now remove the two silver screws you can see.
  • STEP 11
  • You can now remove the battery compartment. A ribbon is stuck to the side of this and will peel away quite easily. Remove the two screws you can see.
  • STEP 12
  • The circuit board will now be loose but still connected by a ribbon. Again, flick the black latch over to release the ribbon.
  • STEP 13
  • Disassembly is complete. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.

How do I replace the battery and where is it located?

Procedure:

Remove battery cover located under the hood on the passenger side in the back. Simply pry the plastic catch in the front, open it like a lid and jiggle it loose and set it aside.
Use the small flat screwdriver to pop up the center peg in the five peripheral fasteners holding down the plastic compartment cover that you just removed the battery cover from. Each of these has a small black plastic circular flat topped center peg inside a larger plastic circular disk which has 4 slots under which you can slide the screwdriver to pop up the center peg. When the peg pops up simply slide the screwdriver under the larger disk to remove the assembly and loosen that site of fixation. When all five fasteners are out you can remove the entire compartment cover.
The battery terminals are removed with the 10mm wrench
The black box in front of the battery can be lifted out of the way by pressing on the plastic catch in the front of the box to loosen it from the metal flange that it is attached to.
The metal battery holder is removed with the 10 mm wrench. The nut is removed and the long bolt is slid out of the holder and then unhooked from it's bottom anchor. Jiggle the metal bar over the top of the battery to unhook the back hook from its bottom anchor. It may be necessary to lift the plastic over the back of the battery gently and lift out the soft clear plastic washer fluid tube from its guides to get at the back hook.
Gently lift the battery out while holding the cables out of the way.

10mm wrench, small flat screwdriver
