Ok what I recommend doing is these steps and you should be gaming again:
1. Start Ps3 and in the title menu to Account Management.
2. Click Account Management.
3. Go to System Activation.
4. DO Ps3 System NOT "Psp System".
5. Choose game then select deactivate ps3. (Why? so that way you can log in as your profile later.)
6. Once done go to System Settings.
7. Go down until you see Restore PS3 System.
8. Click it and select yes. (Once you say yes it will restore your ps3 to factory settings, It will take either 2 hours - 8 Hours. Depending on how much memory it has built in.)
9. Once done Download newest updates and let it download.
10. Once complete you should be playing video games in no time.
Have Fun Gaming.
1. download and install a psn game or game demo
2. put in the disc of the game or video you want to play or watch
3. load the psn game or demo as if you were going to play it
4. quit the demo as soon as you get to the start menu of it
5. go and play or watch the game or video you wanted to, sucka, cause it works now!!!
I hope this works for you, and if it does, spread the word!
try restoring your ps3.
My ps3 wouldn't read disc, but since I restored it it's now reading discs.
Go to system settings on you're home screen. Then go to restore ps3 system & then go to full restore. It will take 3 & 1/2 hours but it could fix you're problem.
okay, best thing to do is to make sure there is no dust or specs of dirt on the laser cause that is what reads the discs and loads the info.
Get a can of air and blow it gently into the drive so it gets the dust and/or dirt particles out of the way.
Now go ahead and try different games, music cd's, dvd's, etc. If it still doesnt read them then your going to need a new laser which you can search for on Ebay and get them pretty cheap and most of the people will give instructions on how to change out the laser.
Hi there my PS3 experienced a similar fault (40gb) & I would recomend you contact Sony PS3 Helpline as explained below.
This fault was fixed by contacting Sony Helpline directly & explaining the fault (laser/hard drive damaged). They agreed to fix this fault free of charge & honoured my warranty as I bought this system in January 2007 by faxing them proof of purchase. They arranged to collect my PS3 via courier & advised that it will be returned within approx 3 weeks along with an extended 3 month warranty. I have to say that Sony Helpline were very helpful & their customer assistance was excellent & if your PS3 does breakdown I would recomend that you contact the Helpline first to enquire if they can assist with the problem before seeking to have this fixed at a potential cost of £100.00 upwards by independant PS3 fixers.
what is up with PS3 anymore? Of course, all these systems are used or as-is but still...
I bought mine at a reputable pawn shop and it played for almost a month and it stopped playin metal gear 4 and college 9...Downloaded he new system update and nothing
I was playing devil may cry 4 for half an hour and than it freeze.I turn off the console and back on again from this moment it won't read any disc or any games i try. Please tell me what to do.Thank you.
Do you work for Enercon, the company that makes Corona treaters? I have been working with them for over 15 years at Cryovac.
This may or may not solve your problem. Turn the power off. Then, Press and hold the 1/0 button for more than 10 seconds. Then turn your PS3 off again. Turn it back on to see if it reset the problem.
