My vcr/dvd combo just stopped working. I unlug it for days, then when I plug it in, it starts wroking for a bit - Then Stops. I don;t want to throw it away if it can be fixed somehow. Please help. Thanks
This is the problem with combo units. When the VCR develops the usual drive problems due to the rubber parts wearing, the whole thing is inop. They are a real pain to work on too. Be real nice to your VCR fix ya shop and they should be able to save your unit.
What is the make and model?
Most of these combo units have the VCR under the TV . To
work on it you have to disassemble and pull out the VCR. It's
cabling is to short to leave connected while working on it so you have
to try to fix it, put it all back together, try it, see what else is
wrong; rinse, lather, repeat .... Best ot have a lot of
experiance so as to minimize the grief.
Wouldn't hurt to replace the belts and see if that does it though.

The model number is Toshiba SE-Ro8-108
can't I fix it myself?
the model number is SE-R0108.
The vcr portion is on the left of the unit and the dvd is on the right side. So, I will open up the unit and then what? Disconnect the vcr portion and then try and replace the belt? I know I should have experience. I just figure I could give it a whirl as opposed to throwing it away or spending money that doesn't want to be spent.
Thanks for the help.
