There is a thermocouple that protrudes up into the flame. If the thermocouple is bad or out of adjustment it will not produce enough electric current to lock the red knob down allowing the heater go into operating mode. This thermocouple is a safety device that senses weather there is a flame or not. If no flame no heat don't turn on. If heat then there must be flame OK turn on. The thermocouple should protrude into the flame about an inch to heat it sufficiently to trigger the valve if it doesn't adjust it into the flame more. If adjusting does no good replace it. Take the old thermocouple to the store you bought the heater at and get a replacement. If you cant get it there almost all hardware stores or heating stores will have generic replacements that will also work.

First locate where to light pilot. You can do this by following thin aluminum colored tubing from control valve to inside heater.In general on top of your gas control valve is a knob. Turn indicator of this knob to pilot and depress knob. This will start gas flow to pilot at end of thin tube. Hold this knob in the depressed position and light pilot. DO NOT release knob for 30 -45 seconds. Then release knob and pilot will remain lit. Then turn knob to on position. If pilot will not stay lit you may need a new thermo coupler, which senses heat from flame to keep pilot gas flow open.

Village series QV32B pilot light won't stay lit
Classic symptom of a malfunctioning thermocouple. When you press the knob, you force the gas valve open so gas will flow. The function of the thermocouple is to confirm that the pilot is lit and allow gas to continue to flow when you release the valve. A new thermocouple is not that expensive. Good luck!

How do i light my furnuce in my fifth wheel
Turn the gas valve to pilot, depress knob-hold & light the pilot...keep depressed for a minute & let go...make sure the pilot stays lit, then turn the knob to ON.

1.Open the door. 2. Turn the thermostat OFF The thermostat is located behind the door. 3. Push the gas control valve knob and turn to OFF. Wait 5 minutes for unburned gas to vent. 4. Push and turn gas control valve knob to the "L" in PILOT. 5. While still holding the knob in, light the pilot with a lit flame. There is a thermocouple that detects that there is a pilot flame so that main gas won't come on unless there is a pilot. That thermocouple is faulty. These are available from a plumbing supply house. The thermocouple will be attached right in the flame from the pilot and connects back into the gas valve.

Is there a "Pilot" marking on the knob? Try moving the knob 1/2 way between on and off and depress the knob. If you are in the correct location, the knob should depress in about 3/8 of an inch. Once you find the location where you can depress the knob, there should be a red sparker button that you can snap to light the pilot. Depress the pilot knob and snap the button a few times. There may be a small viewing port at the pilot. It may be covered by a small metal shield held on by a thumb screw. You can remove the shield to view the flame. OK so now you can depress the pilot knob, snap the sparker, look for the flame while still holding down the pilot knob and count to 30. Slowly release the pilot knob and check to see if the pilot is still on. Once it stays lit, rotate the knob to the "ON" position.

Not sure how to relight the pilot light. Some point during the night it just went off. Not sure how or why that happened either. I have tried to do a few things but need help
To light your pilot you will need to find the gas valve assembly. It will be a block of aluminum with a plastic knob and a few pipes attached to it. Once you find it, rotate the knob to the pilot marking on the knob. You will know when you are at the proper setting because you will be able to depress the knob into the gas valve about 3/8". Once you do that, there will be a small red button which you can snap causing a spark at the pilot. There may ba a small viewing port covered by a removable metal shield. OK, Depress and hold in the knob, snap the red button a few times. Keep holding the knob in, look into the viewing port for a blue flame. If no flame, snap the button a few more times looking for a spark. Once you see the flame stop snapping but continue to hold the knob in. Count to 30. Slowly let the knob out watching that the flame stays on. If it starts to go out, quickly depress the knob and hold for a minute. If it continues to go out, you have a bad thermocouple and it is not letting the pilot stay lit. If it stays lit, rotate the knob to On. A few seconds later and if the unit is calling for heat, it should light the main burner. If you need a new thermocouple, go to a good hardware store or Farm Center (bring the old part with you) and ask for a new one.

Where is the pilot light on the cozy w352e heater? the heater went off and does not go back on when i change the thermostat, and i can't see anything lit when i open it up, so i'm assuming i just need to...
Open the lower panel. You will see a valve with a knob marked On Pilot and Off. This is the gas valve. Turn the knob to Pilot. Push in on the knob and if you are in the correct setting, the knob will depress about 1/2" into the valve. Now look for a red button and snap it in much like a gas grill starter. Keep the knob depressed and look into the small viewing port to see if you started the pilot. Hold the knob for 30 seconds then let it out. You should see a blue flame. If you don't , try it again and hold the knob in longer this time. Once you get the pilot to lite, rotate the knob to the On position. If for some reason you can't get the pilot to stay on, you may need to replace the thermocouple. If the pilot won't light at all, you may need to get into the pilot Assembly with a long match or grill lighter and light the pilot.

The pilot is off and I don't have the manual. How do I start the pilot to turn on the logs
You will need to find the gas valve. Open up the lower section of the fireplace and look foe a small cube of aluminum with a knob on it that says On-Off-Pilot. Turn the knob to the Off position by lining up the word with a small dot or line indicator on the body of the gas valve. Then turn the knob to the Pilot setting. You will know when you are in the correct setting because you will be able to depress the knob into the gas valve body. Hold the knob depressed and click the larger red button. It will snap so don't be startled. Continue to hold the knob in while looking between the logs for a blue flame. If you don't see one, keep snapping the red button. Once you see the flame, continue to hold the knob depressed for 30 seconds or so. Release the knob and make sure the flame stays on. If it does not, repeat nthis procedure and hold down the knob for 45 seconds. If the flame continues to go out, you need a new thermocouple. Once the flame stays lit, rotate the knob to the On setting. The main burner should start within 15 seconds.

make sure the flame hits the thermo couple if so then replace it lows has them in the water heater section thermo couple gets hot makes millivolt signal then opens gas valve
