Wireless security is commonly performed by encryption using wep setting a network key. That key is to be shared by both the router and the network card to allow encrypted communications. If appears you have not provided the network key that was configured into wireless router to the wireless adapter card to allow them to exchange encrypted communications. The preferable solution would be to get the active network from the router and provide in to the wireless adapter in the prompt / request you were presented. This will protect you wireless network from access by those you have not shared the key with.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 signal swing

#1 Your BlackBerry does not have sufficient Power
Check the battery charge level as shown by the battery icon on the top left of the home screen. No Power - Battery Charge Indicator does not show a charge or is very weak. The battery icon may be red. Charge the battery.
#2 You are Out of Network coverage area
Check the Signal Strength Indicator on the home screen. (1 to 5 bars, as shown below, indicating signal strength). If there is no signal, you may be out of range of the network.
If you are sure you are in range of the network, but show no signal strength, press Alt-Right Shift-Del at the same time. This will cause the BlackBerry to reacquire a network connection.
The process for this procedure is:
  • Press Alt-Right Shift-Del (The Del key is also the Backspace key.)
  • The screen will go blank, and an hourglass will appear. Wait for the hourglass to go away.
  • The startup screen will appear. Wait for it to go away.
  • A screen that says Verifying Security Software will appear. Wait for it to go away.
  • Check the Radio Tower icon.
If you are in Coverage Area of your Service Provider, You will get the network.
#3 Your Data plan is switched Off.

My hcl laptop with winxp shows very weak wireless signal strength at just 2 metre from the modem though other devices show complete signal strength. the device manager shows no problems with the hardware....

You can try this solution
  1. Right-click on the 'My Computer' icon on your computer and choose 'Properties'.
  2. Click on the 'Hardware' tab and then click on the 'Device Manager'.
  3. Now, find the 'Network Adapters' section and click on the little plus-sign to the left.
  4. Find your wireless network adapter and right-click on it and choose 'Properties'.
  5. This is where things will get different depending on the brand of your laptop and wireless card and which drivers you have installed. Browse through the different tabs and look for settings such as 'Power Management' or 'Transmit Power'. Adjust the settings to either disable the power management or increase the amount of power used by the network card.
  6. Now, test your wireless signal strength to see if you still have the same weak wireless signal you had before. The chances are that you will notice an increased wireless signal strength.

I have an Acer Aspire One laptop that I bought recently, but I can't seem to connect it to the internet. It asks me for a network key, so where do I find it?

When you set up your network you put in a network key (password) that keeps other people from accessing your network. (See it works) That key has to be entered into a small window that comes up when you click on the little stacked bars down in the right corner that represents the strength of your signal. A list of detected networks comes up, and the name of yours should be shown. You right click on your network a box opens up, you select properties another window opens up with a place for you to put your network key. If you do not remember your key, then you are going to have to reset your router, put another key in then reset all of your computers that use that network

Acer Aspire won't Connect Wirelessly Even with Full Strength

do you have security on your wireless network, password etc. like WEP, WPA, WP2 and the likes. that would be the first thing you need to check, second is the type of wireless card and router you are using, on the laptop you might have a wireless N router and a wireless N card on your laptop which might require higher security. you'll need a WPA2 - personal for the key. that you can configure your wireless router manufacturer. hit me back.

I cant access internet exp. from my laptop even with good signal

Access the preferred network settings (if you are using the Windows wireless setup - right click on the wireless icon + view available wireless networks + preferred networks) for your machine and edit the listing for your wireless network, you'll need to uncheck the box that says something to the effect of "an authentication key is provided for me" and enter your security key in the boxes provided.

If it still fails - you may want to remove your network from the preferred listing and add it manually, making sure that the authentication is turned off as described and with your security key entered twice.

Wireless signal inconsitent; sometimes cuts out

If you are able to, take the the linksys card out of that IBM r50 and install it on another one of your laptops. If you get a great signal you know the card is good but if you move that card to another laptop and have the same problem you will have to replace the wireless card.If other laptops will not accept that card you can purchase a new Lynksys wireless usb adapter and see if that solves your problem. Those usb wireless adapters only cost about $35.Another way to seperate the problem would be to see if the IBM R50 will access any other wireless network with more signal strength.take your laptop to a public wireless connection(mcdonalds star bucks) any if you get a good signal than your problem is with your router.RATE ME IF THIS HELPS....Good LUCK!
