Message: Check Printer 6A00 and message Service Error 5C10. I have rebooted, turned printer on and off, hit reset and reinstalled software.

Error 5C10 means a paper jam or the printer has encountered an internal error. And error 6A00 is caused due a paper jam in the sheet feed unit or near the print head. You can also reset the printer to resolve this issue. On the printer press and hold the ON/OFF button or unplug the power cord. Wait for 10 seconds, press power button ON/OFF button again. If this doesn't resolve the error code then unplug the printer for 10 minutes. Also, inspect the back panel of the printer for any paper jams. To clear the paper jams---

Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord and USB cable. Remove the jammed paper slowly using the following procedure. Open the rear cover to check if the paper is jammed. Pull out the cassette and check if the paper is jammed inside the cassette area. Stand the printer with the rear side down, holding the document cover. Press the tabs together and pull the green cover toward you. Check if the paper is jammed. (If you were not doing Duplex printing, you do not have to follow this procedure.) Close the green cover and place the printer back to a normal position. Reconnect the power cord and power on the printer. Confirm the Alarm light is off. Load paper back into the ASF or cassette. Press to clear the message and continue printing. If you are printing from application software, follow the instructions displayed on your computer. Hope this helps... I just had this error message appear on my computer screen and the 6A00 on my MP830 printer at the same time. I heard this error mean a few things (paper jam, ink carriage stuck), though not sure what it does actually mean. I moved the carriage back-and-forth, blasted compressed air and checked for paper jams. When nothing worked, I looked inside and saw a lot of spilled ink, I'm guessing from not using genuine Canon ink. I blotted the inside with paper towels (use gloves!!),especially the far right, and took out the ink cartridges and blotted the carriage. I replaced everything, powered the printer off and on, and it worked fine. I would suggest first to slide the carriage back-and-forth and look for paper jams before cleaning the ink. Hope this works for you.

You can try and clear the error by holding down the power button and waiting for it to turn off then wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. {you might need to unplug it to get it to turn off}

or

Hold down the stop/reset and then push the power button while the printer is on. The printer should shut off then wait 30 seconds and then hold the stop/reset again and push the power button and the printer should turn on with the error cleared.

regarding cannon printer mp830: how do I get to the printer carraige?

To clear error messages displayed on the LCD or if the printer is not functioning as expected, it may be necessary to simultaneously press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF buttons.

1. With the printer powered on, press and hold down the <Stop/Reset> button then press the ON/OFF button.
   
   
2. Once the printer is powered off, hold down <Stop/Reset> and then press <ON/OFF>.

6A00 is the error when the purge assembly is broken or jammed. You need a shop to install a new one since the entire print engine has to come out to replace it.

6A00 is AP position error.
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer.If this not help your printer need service.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
