Need help setting chronograph on Luminox 8101 dive watch ( functions of dials & setting back to zero).

Your watch is battery powered or a 'quartz' watch. It is commonly refered to as a 'chronograph'. That is another word for stop watch.As well as telling time and the date, your watch can time how long an event lasts. For example, a horse race. You start the chronograph or stop watch when the horse starts and stop it when it crosses the finish line. When the next horse starts you need set it back to zero to time the next race.Operation is simple. The upper push button starts and stops the chronograph. Try it. Now with the chronograph stopped, push the bottom button. The hand return to the 12 o'clock position or the 'zero' position. Also notice the small dials on the dial or face of the watch. They record minutes and other increments of time. The large hand going around when you push the upper button is recording seconds. Hope this helps, Michael

The small bottom dial is seconds counter and there is no option to set or reset it as it is part of the main gear train - it just counts the seconds. Top right dial is 1/10 seconds counter and runs only when the chronograph function is engaged. One full circle indicates 1 second. Top left dial is 30 minutes counter and runs only when the chronograph function is engaged. One full circle indicates 30 minutes, two circles = 1 hour. The big centre seconds hand is actually Chronograph hand and runs only when the chrono function is engaged. So, the chronograph hand and two top dials works all together when chrono function is engaged. To start chrono: push upper button once. To stop chrono: push upper button again (once). To return all hands to zero: push lower button once. There is another option: if you already stopped chrono by pushing upper button, but want to continue counting without returning hands to zero, push the upper button once more and the counting will start from the point where it stopped. You can repeat this as many as you wish - it will count on and on, till you will stop it and reset to zero. Fine tuning of chrono hands can be made by pulling the crown half way out and while leaving in this position pushing and holding one of the push buttons (which one - depends on movement caliber). Could not find a download for instructions on this watch, but I did manage to find some basic instructions for the Sector brand. I hope this helps as this is the best I can come up with.

Sector Chronograph Watch Instructions

Most chronograph watches have screw-down crowns for water resistance. You must unscrew the watch crown before you can make any changes to the watch time. After time is set screw the crown back in. To utilize the chronograph dials, use the buttons on the side of the watch. One button will be for the second timer. Press once for the second hand to start timing. Press again to stop it. Another button will be to reset the second hand timer back to zero. Sector Chronograph watches may have different dial functions (see link in References).

Sector Dual-Time Watch Instructions

Because Sector watches are known for their sports capabilities, the Dual-Time watches have screw-down crowns. For Dual-Time timepieces, unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown to middle position to set the date. Pull the crown out to its fully extended position and rotate it to set the day of the week, hour and time. Press and hold in the crown and turn clockwise to seal the crown back in to the watch.

Sector Ana-Digi Watch Instructions

Sector Ana-Digi timepieces have analog hands plus digital timekeeping functionality. To set the time, unscrew the crown counterclockwise and then clockwise to the appropriate time. The digital functionalities are programmed by the buttons on the side of the case. Depending on the style of the Sector watch, you can set the digital time with one button, set the date display, 1/100 seconds chronograph timer, altimeter, thermometer and alarm functions.

When you reset the big seconds hand to zero, the hour and the minute hand are not engaged in this function, so, there is no fault with the watch movement.
Do as follows:
1) pull out crown and set the hour and minute hands at 6 o'clock (they must be lined perfectly in opposite directions)
2) push the crown in half way back (not completely)
3) push and hold the button at 2 o'clock (set the big seconds hand to zero) and release it when done
4) when big seconds hand is zeroed push the crown back in
5) pull the crown out again and set desired time
6) push the crown back in.
If all actions described do not work, you will have to visit your nearest watch repair shop and ask to refit chronograph hand as in this case it is out of balance (not pointed at exact mark).

Grab the knurled edge of the bezel and turn counter clockwise. It only moves in one direction- to the left, counter clockwise.

The dials are part of a Chronograph (stop watch) I assume there is a second, minute, and maybe a date function. Usually the large second hand is part of the stop watch on only moves when you start the stopwatch (top right button) push again to stop and reset back too zero is the bottom button. Usually to set or zero out those dials pull out the crown to the first click (also sets date) then push the top button to set the seconds (big hand) and the bottom button to set the other. sometimes you may need to pull the crown out to the second click (also sets hour and minutes) to set add'l dials. This is generally how you set most chronograph watches the button you push and what moves may be different.
