Marantz SR870 tuner not working

I have a Marantz SR870 unit that everything works on except the radio tuner - FM hisses like the aerial is disconnected and AM is completely silent. No obvious signs of broken wires or bad soldering in the aerial connections. Any ideas? If all else fails, is it easy to connect a separate tuner?

Hello,
Make sure your FM antena connection is good. A receiver will not pick up an FM signal without an antena. Even a small piece of wire will work to test. If the Tuner section is bad, an external tuner can always be connected to an Aux input. Due to cost, it may not be cost effective to repair this unit.
Hope this helps.

Is the Marantz SR68 an FM tuner please?

No, it is a Surround Sound Receiver for taking television signal, or a signal from another device and amplifying it to multiple speakers..

Everything OK, except no sound from the FM tuner.

You may have many different issues in the FM circuitry. Do any other FM stations come in?

The stereo light on my marantz 2226b receiver does not come on even on a stereo fm station

Hello,

my first question is does the light come on when you turn to Tape, Phono, Aux selection? If no lamp is blown, if it does come on then your tuner need to be serviced. FM tuner work is NOT for a novice. I would be glad to take a look at the unit.

Thanks

Is the aerial input on a Sherwood Stereo tuner TD130SB 75 or 300 Ohm?

Hello,
You can use some speaker wire. and pull it apart until each leg is 2 1/2' long and then connect it to the balanced antenna input. Or you can run that 2 1/2' (each leg) of wire to the the coax connecting one side to the shield and one side to the center core of a 75 Ohm coax and then run the coax to the FM input on your reciever. The (two) [2 1/2'] legs create a dipole and the coax prevents high SWR and improves recieve. Remember it will work best the higher you get it.

Put the radio in my truck about 4 months ago, worked great. the truck sat for months because it was broke, now i get it fixed, put the face on my radio and everything is on, my radio, my amp is running but...

Turn the volume up to the highest level.

Can you hear a hiss or static?

NO...usually means speakers are disconnected..often loose socket at rear of radio or broken wiring

YES...Hiss means either blown speaker, faulty radio or faulty aerial.

If you have tape or CD as well , this will prove whether it is the aerial or not.

HISS with CD or tape playing means faulty radio or speakers

WORKING OK with CD or tape means faulty aerial

I'm trying to connect my cablevision coax to my Pioneer VSX-1019 reveiver so I can listen to FM radio through the tuner. The antenna connection on the receiver is a female European PAL (also called as...

Is this what you need? http://cgi.ebay.com/4pc-Gold-Plated-Aerial-Female-Aerial-Female-Adapter-/180435080974?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a02c4d70e
although I would be surprised if the signal you have would be correct to supply your fm tuner, you may be better off with something like this (depends on how good your fm signal is locally) http://cgi.ebay.com/FM-AERIAL-KIT-RADIO-RECEIVERS-BALUN-UNIVERSAL-/310283558296?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item483e575d98#ht_2068wt_876
Alternatively, and I know this sounds crude, poke a long piece of wire into the centre of the aerial socket on your tuner and pin it to the wall or a door frame, it often works if you have a decent signal to begin with.

In my philips SAA1732 fm is not working, if put scan, it scanning my no channel were is found. i connect to outside aerial but it still not detecting any fm stations... what i should do sir, please suggest...

You probably need to install a proper fm aerial and diplexer, is your aerial a TV aerial or a radio aerial?
You need to set it for the correct TV system in the software to get the audio from the TV, there will be a number of options like PAL I or PAL M or N. etc They have different sound settings, you need to choose the correct one for your system.

Marantz 6200

Your unit's micro IC, is in need of a reset.Un-plug the unit and locate the semi large yellow capactor on the main board. (r-h side facing front) Now flip the unit over and look thru the vent holes in that same area and locate the two solder pins. Short them out with a thin metal object, like a straightened out paper clip or wire, and turn it over (just discharge the cap and remove your wire) this will default all settings and restore normal operation.
