The globe is held on by three metal tension clips holding the globe to the base. To remove the globe, you need to pull down on the globe gently but firmly. Try pulling down on one side and then the other, sort of "wiggling" the globe off. Getting the globe back on can be a bit of a challenge, calling for you to get all three clips aligned in place before pushing the globe back up. A little patience and the job will go smoothly.

Hope this helps. If it does, please leave feedback! That is the only way I know if I am being of assistance or just wasting my time.

Yes its true. I find that I need to wear rubber-coated gloves that give me a good grip on the glass, then I can pull firmly while wiggling it off. It will eventually come off but you feel afriad that you are going to shatter it on the way off.

SOURCE: I can't remove the globe

My fan has no screws. You simply twist and tug the globe (firmly but easily) and find that it is held on by three "tension clips" that hold the thing in place.

If you are nervous, have someone else get on the other side of the ladder and hold the fan steady while you twist/tug the globe with two hands.

I did it by myself but I would have liked another pair of hands holding the fan steady while I gently but firmly tugged at the globe.

How do I remove the glass globe on a 70" Casa Vieja Coastline Modern Contemporary fan?

To remove the glass globe on a 70" Casa Vieja Coastline Modern Contemporary fan, you need to follow these steps:

Turn off the fan and wait for the blades to stop moving.
Locate the screws that hold the glass globe in place. These screws are usually located at the base of the globe.
Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws. You may need to turn them counterclockwise to loosen them.
Once the screws are loose, gently pull down on the globe to remove it from the fan.
If you have any trouble removing the globe, please refer to your user manual or contact Casa Vieja customer support for assistance.

Change bulb in ceiling fan model #40934. Was following instruction to push on globe then slight counter clockwise turn isn't working. Heelp

Hey Jennifer,
Look closely at the base of the globe.. there is (usually)(three of these).. a small groove(s) that make a 90* bend ..these grooves mate to the three screws on the side of the fan's globe socket,, the screws have to be backed out a little to allow the globe to seat and the screws guide the globe in place, once the globe is in place then retighten each screw a little at a time until the globe is tight

How to change the bulbs I turn and turn the globe and lower assembly but the glass doesn't release! The shaft rises up slightly but then clicks back down Any suggestions?

Hampton Bay assembly information is tough to come by on the internet - except for sales info. As an electrician, I have hung more fans than I can remember, and have never found any that were not secured by either (1) three or more thumb screws, (2) a threaded portion of the glass globe or (3) a "bayonnette" (quick twist) type mount that required little more than an inch or so of twist to remove.

The globe should be removed by either loosening / removing three or more thumb screws that are designed to engage the recess between the globe itself and a lip around the opening; unscrewing the glass globe light a light bulb ; OR by twisting the globe about an inch or so in one direction or the other (like many automotive-type lamps). I suspect the type you have is the latter. From your account of what is happening, it suggests to me that the entire fan / light fixture is twisting on the fan support on the electrical ceiling box when you are trying to twist the globe. The globe and rest of the fixture are moving as one instead of independantly of each other.

If yours is the type that must be twisted from the base, you'll need to prevent the rest of the fixture from twisting at the same time while attempting to remove the globe. This will probably require a second person to help - given that it seems to have become wedged in place, and trying to grip it and balance the globe might be to much to do by yourself. If yours is held in place by thumb screws, no amount of twisting will allow it to be removed.

There should be no "secret" way of accessing the light bulbs, something has happened that is preventing the easy removal of the globe - whether it is corrosion, dirt or some other debris. Make sure you clean it up completely before reassembly.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Light bulb replacement in ceiling fan. Hampton Bay with a solid globe (no hole in middle) - how to remove globe?

Look for three or four small thumbscrews around the metal rim that holds the globe. Unscrew each several turns while holding the globe with your other hand underneath to keep it from dropping out. You should not have to remove the screws completely. Just loosen them all enough to remove the globe. If there are no screws then the globe may twist into the rim light a light bulb. Hold the fan housing steady and turn the globe counter-clockwise to unscrew it. If it turns but does not unscrew then there are probably screws holding it as first described. They may be flush with the rim and you may need a small screwdriver or Allen wrench to unscrew them.

Need to change glass globe in hampton bay fan

I had the exact same problem. To solve it, I had a friend hold the area of the fan that the globe screws into. I wore rubber dish gloves to get a good grip and pushed up slightly on the globe as I turned counter-clockwise. My friend held the other part and turned clockwise a little as well. It took a lot of pressure for it to finally come loose and then we just turned it about another 90 degrees and the globe slips right out of the groove.

I couldn't believe how hard this was to do.
