I have the exact same issues with the 360, I have replaced the cartridge (so it is full) - yet when I try to initiate the cleaning process the red light illuminates which indicates empty cleaning solution cartridge. I have tried unpluging, pluging it in while shaver is in base, visa-versa, etc... I just fixed it now .. when the cartridge is inside and full turn the whole bas upside-down for less than a sec .. ( while the power plug is disconnected ).. then try plugging and cleaning again
This actually worked! Pump must have needed priming. Didn't need to add coloring to my home brew (70% isopropyl alcohol + few drops lemon oil). This actually worked! Pump must have needed priming.

I refil my tank with 91% alcohol. The base sensor will think it's empty
if you don't add color, Braun adds blue tint to cleaner to trigger
full-tank sensor. A drop of non-water solution color will do the trick.
They made it a bit difficult to not use their costly cleaner, but it's
doable.
You are awesome. I have been refilling my own cartridges for some time, but I suppose I finally diluted the original coloring. I add oil of peppermint to my alcohol, so I just added a couple of drops of blue food coloring. I should also mention that I used these instructions with my Series 7 razor/cleaner.You are awesome. I have the same problem with my 8985. Base charges fine but when I press the button to clean, it says the cartridge is empty and stops. New full cartridge is installed. Seems like this is a common problem.

If you're using the XBox 360 component/compositve AV cable, try the switch at the base of the cable to switch from HD to SD or vise versa. If that doesn't work, try MS's official reset instructions:
To reset your display settings, follow these steps:
Make sure there's no disc in the disc tray.
Turn off the console.
Turn on the console.
Note If you're using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, make sure only one wireless controller is connected to the console, and then turn off and restart the console by using the Guide button on that controller.
As the console starts, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger on the controller. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts. Xbox 360 E or Xbox 360 S console: To reset display setting on these console models, you can also just turn off the console and then hold the power button on the front of the console down for about 10 seconds. (The lights will flash several times.)
I experienced the same symptoms on my 8995; solid yellow light (even though the cartridge was full), cleaning failed (red light on) after pressing either start button. After many failed attempts to clean the razor, unplugging the station and pushing start button, I decided to clean the razor under running water. I rinsed the razor under water and then turned it on allowing it to run in a pool of water (like it would in the station). After water cleaning, I returned the razor to the station, pressed the start button and it worked! Was able to do both the quick clean and auto clean.
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY ELECTRICAL EXPERIENCE, INTERNAL VOLTAGES ARE DEADLY *THIS IS NO JOKE* Some times you can open the case (after unpluging and discharging stored electricity) and reset the little gear that opens the tray, but most of the time the disk drive has to be replaced :-( sorry
The reset button on the Riccar 8955 is located on the back of the vacuum cleaner, at the very bottom, right above the rear wheels. You can push the reset button with a ball point pen or something similar.
You can make sure you have a nearly empty old cart in your shaver cleaner base, and then run some rubbing alchol into shaver or even some mixed with some soap to help break down the oils in the stubble crud. If you can put some also in a spray bottle and use it to clean with a little force, that will help some.
To troubleshoot sound without picture issues, follow these steps:
Reset the resolution of the console to 640x480. To do this, start the console, hold both triggers, and then press and hold the Y
button as the console starts. For more information about how to reset
your display settings, click the following article number to view the
article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

How to reset your Xbox 360 console display settings to the default display settings
If you see a picture on the display after you try this step, you
can continue to use the 640x480 resolution, or you can try to use a
higher resolution setting. If you still cannot see a picture, continue
to the next step.
Disconnect the VGA HD cable from the display, and then remove the console power cord from the power outlet.
Wait five seconds.
Reconnect the console power cord to the power outlet, and then turn on the console.
Reconnect
the VGA HD cable to the display. If you can see a picture on the
display after you try this step, you can continue to use the 640x480
resolution, or you can try to use a higher resolution setting.
There can be a number of reasons why it stopped working. But given the age of the shaver, it's probably not worth trying to fix. I'd recommend getting a newer unit. Try the 8995 360 Complete model.
Hi,unfortunately there is no way to reset this counter, even after replacing battery it still stands there.Braun somehow prohibits user and/or unauthorized repair men to do such action. If you visit the following link there is a official statement by Braun states that" total number of shaves (cannot be reset)." I am sorry, this is the fact. Regards ------------ www.service.braun.com/line/SH/S5646/S5646_3_CHIN_KOR.pdf
